The Baltimore Ravens (7-3, 5-4-1 ATS) and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson are heading to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers (7-2, 7-2 ATS) in the next chapter of one of the hottest rivalries in the NFL.

Baltimore and Jackson have the No. 1 offense in the NFL, and have won seven of their last eight games. The Steelers and new quarterback Russell Wilson have won three in a row, and are back to playing their give-no-quarter defense.

Baltimore is locked in as three-point favorites on the road, which is a big move from the sportsbooks. The Ravens and Jackson have struggled against the Steelers recently.

We find the total of 48.5 intriguing. The Ravens are 9-1 over/under this season and their last six games have all hit the over (the number was anywhere between 45 and 53). The Steelers has four games have hit the over (number was 36-45).

But the last seven meetings between these two teams have all gone under. Last year’s Week 18 game saw the total at 34, and it ended 17-10 Steelers.

The best moneyline spots are Caesars with -169 on the Steelers and FanDuel with +152 on the Ravens.

Defense Never Rests

NFL fans know what to expect when these two teams get together. Defense. A lot of it.

But the Ravens defense has dropped to last in the NFL in yards allowed (2,949). What in the name of Harbaugh is going on here? The truth is the Ravens have scored so much and so quickly on offense than the defense has been on the field a lot. But the Ravens may be without star safety Kyle Hamilton who sprained his ankle in last Thursday’s win over Cincinnati. Hamilton is one of the best players in the NFL.

The Steelers defense reminds us of Iowa. They are just always in the right position and force you to execute. They are No. 2 in points allowed. TJ Watt has 6.5 sacks and leads the league with four forced fumbles. Pittsburgh ranks third in the NFL at +9 in turnover differential.

Russ vs. LJ

Russell Wilson is not the same player he was in his heyday for Seattle, but he’s 3-0 since taking over as the starter for the Steelers and he does a good job playing within himself. George Pickens has emerged as the go-to receiver with 639 yards and two touchdowns. But you know the Steelers want to run the ball with Najee Harris and control the clock.

Jackson is back to his old tricks. He has 24 touchdown passes and just two picks. He’s also closing in on the all-time quarterback rushing mark (6,109 by Michael Vick). Derrick Henry is already over 1000 yards and leads the NFL with 6.1 yards a carry.

Steelers vs Ravens Prediction

  • Steelers +3 (at BetMGM)
  • Under 48.5 (at BetMGM)

The Steelers are the only team in the NFL that has consistently stopped Jackson. He’s 2-4 against them all-time, and it’s the only team he’s thrown more interceptions against then touchdown passes. They keep Jackson in check by being disciplined, that’s it.

We like the Steelers getting the points at home. We don’t buy the stats on the Ravens defense, we actually think it’s pretty good, but we don’t see Pittsburgh moving the ball all that much. The biggest thing to us is the seven games in a row that have hit the under. Even 20-17 would be a lot of points for these two teams. Pound the under.
