Another elimination round came and went at the 2024 CPG Championship Finals (Main Event). What once started as a massive 3,787 turnout crunched to a tight field of just 43 players by the close of Day 3. At the helm was China’s Qingjun Li who surged during last level of the day with 10c10s dusting 9c9s to bag up 8,075,000 (80 bb).

Also sitting on hefty stacks at bagging time were Zhen Chen (7,250,000 – 72 bb) and Chaodi Lou (6,875,000 – 68 bb), both players commanding the field for a majority of the day.

For the latter Lou, one of his largest pots was on a board 9cKh5cJcAd where he fired over half pot on the turn then pushed out his opponent on the river to pad up his stack nearly an extra million.

Also powering through the day’s eight rounds were Jiang Zhou (4,400,000 – 44 bb), Xudong Yang (2,100,000 – 21 bb), Neo Zhi Han (1,925,000 – 19 bb), Zhao Feng (1,450,000 – 14 bb), Tianhao Zheng (1,400,000 – 14 bb), and the lone Vietnamese flag flyer, Pham Tien Dung with 1,025,000 (10 bb).

On the flip side, entering leaders Qiang Xu and Shaohua Lai were among the day’s casualties. While Xu was ousted before the third level of the day, Lai lasted longer then met a brutal defeat with 5d5h burned by a player’s 2c2s on a board 6s2hKc3sAc.
