Punch Bowl Social Launches Spritzy Patio Pop-ups

Eatertainment concept Punch Bowl Social has partnered with Aperol this summer on a series of patio pop-up bars. During the pop-ups, which will run through September, each of the seven participating Punch Bowl Social patios will be made over with photo ops, lawn games and other Aperol-branded amenities to give guests plenty of Instagrammable moments. And of course, Spritz cocktails.

The patio pop-ups feature three new Spritzes, each priced at $12: the classic Aperol Spritz, made with the signature orange aperitivo, prosecco and Fever Tree club soda; the Day Tripper, with Espolòn Reposado tequila, orange, honey and prosecco; and the 7-10 Split, with Skyy citrus vodka, Fever Tree sparkling cucumber, pineapple and lemon. The summer Spritz menu features spirits from Campari — Aperol’s parent company —and mixers from Fever Tree, says Punch Bowl Social’s chief marketing officer Jencey Keeton.

Punch Bowl Social locations participating in the pop-ups include Arlington, VA; Atlanta; Austin; Chicago; Cleveland, OH; Denver; and Sacramento, CA. “We looked at different markets and wanted to make sure we were activating across the U.S,” Keeton says.

The company had to be creative with some of the unique spaces. For instance, Austin Domain in Texas doesn’t have a patio, Keeton says, “so we’re setting up a fake inside patio.” The Chicago location — housed in a former laundromat —is the biggest activation, she notes: “We’re taking over the entire downstairs bar.”

Founded in 2012, Denver-based Punch Bowl Social currently operates 14 units, with more on the way. Locations offer scratch-made food, craft cocktails, an array of social gaming and music in eclectic and creatively designed spaces.
