- All of the Steelers vs Raiders injury report news is analyzed in the story below
There aren’t a lot of names showing up in the injury reports and inactives for the Week 3 NFL SNF game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders. However, the few names that are appearing on these lists are some pretty vital cogs in both machines.
Pittsburgh WR Gunner Olszewski, the club’s top kick return man, is out with a concussion. The Steelers are also showing WR Diontae Johnson and RDE Cameron Hayward on IR.
For Las Vegas, which is set as 2.5-point home favorites over the Steelers, RDE Tyree Wilson (illness) is questionable and RDE Chandler Jones (personal) is out.
So far in the NFL public betting splits, the Steelers are getting the majority of ATS handle (66% as 2.5-point road underdogs) as well as most of the moneyline action (70% as +124 away dogs).

Olszewski Key Return Man For Steelers
On the Pittsburgh depth chart, Olszewski is showing as the #1 kick return man and #2 punt return man. In 2020 with the New England Patriots, he led the NFL in punt return yardage (346), TDs (1) and yards per punt return (17.3). That earned Olszewski All-Pro status.
Gunner Olszewski suffered a #concussion on this hit. Note the subtle fencing response spotted by @ganglion11, the man who coined the phrase. I think it’s more memorable & easier to identify than the medical term “posturing”. Words matter. pic.twitter.com/q0kq5NNRIi

It’s been a tough week for the Steelers kick return unit. While a concussion felled Olszewski, RB Anthony McFarland, third on the kick return depth chart, was placed on IR with a knee injury.
Unable to play in the Week 2 home-field win over Cleveland, WR Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was placed on IR earlier this week. He’s joining another Pittsburgh starter on IR who also was absent for the win over the Browns. RDE Cameron Heyward is out with a groin injury.
Both players will be required to sit out a minimum of four games.

Tyree Wilson-DE | Illness | Questionable |

Brandon Facyson-CB | knee | Out (IR) |
Darien Butler-LB | knee | Out (IR) |
Raiders Being Patient With Jones
After he missed the first two games of the season due to personal reasons, RDE Chandler Jones was finally placed on the non-football illness list. The move means the 2017 NFL sack leader will need to sit out a minimum of four games.
So many Raiders fans log on here and dunk on Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler, and Mark Davis every single day—how about some kudos for handling a highly delicate matter with Chandler Jones.

The position has become further problematic for the Raiders this week. Tyree Wilson, starting at RDE in place of Jones, is listed as questionable this week due to illness. The rookie, who was chosen seventh overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been limited in practice this week.
The Raiders got some good news at the wide receiver position. Both Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers were cleared from the NFL concussion protocol earlier this week and were able to resume full participation in practice. Neither is currently carrying an injury designation. In the NFL player props, Adams has by far the highest receiving yards over/under of any player in this game at 75.5. Pittsburgh’s George Pickens is next highest at just 50.5 in the Steelers vs Raiders props.
How Could Injuries Affect Steelers vs Raiders Betting Lines?
There was some important information regarding Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick. The five-time First-Team All-Pro selection was removed from injury designation with a chest issue. He resumed full practicing earlier in the week.
Veteran Armon Watts is expected to start in place of Heyward. Watts was a 12-game starter last season with the Chicago Bears. Minus Olszewski, look for journeyman Godwin Igwebuike to assume kick-return duties. He averaged 28.0 yards per kick return last season with Seattle.
To fill the roster void left by Jones, the Raiders signed Isaac Rochell. He was cut in preseason and signed to the practice squad. Wilson returned to limited practice duty on Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday workouts. Based on that fact, it would appear he’s trending toward playing. Malcolm Koonce is expected to start if Wilson can’t go.
