A sneak peek at the new release. At time of writing, the 2017 and various back vintages are available via the Peter Lehmann website. Winemaking sees 18 months in French oak hogsheads.
Peter Lehmann Wines, Stonewell, Shiraz, Barossa, 2018
Opaque and deep purple with a bright rim. Calm and ancient. Dusty black plums, blueberry juice, boysenberry, graphite, soft cedar, ferrous shavings, baking spice and charred edges. Medium to full with dusty, drying and spreading tannins. Dark fruit topped with shaved couverture chocolate. Plummy flesh, black fruits of the forest, suggestion of woody spice and pan jus with a little sweet oak still wrapping cosily. Supple and flowing. Fine, balanced and with a juicy clean finish. Delicious now or in 15 years.
RRP: $120 (expected)
