The injury-riddled Orlando Magic (17-11, 10-1 home, 16-12 ATS) are back on the court on Thursday night as they welcome the West-leading OKC Thunder (20-5, 9-3 away, 16-9 ATS) to the Kia Center for a 7:10 pm ET tipoff. With Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner both still sidelined for Orlando, OKC is a big 6.5-point road favorite in Thursday’s NBA odds.

The Thunder are coming off a rare loss to Milwaukee (97-81) in the final of the 2024 NBA Cup, a game that didn’t actually count in the regular-season standings. OKC is riding a five-game win streak in games that count towards the playoff race.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (30.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 6.3 APG) had a team-high 21 points in OKC’s worst offensive performance of the season. The Thunder shot just 33.7% from the floor and a horrendous 15.6% from three.
The Magic were the last unbeaten home team in the league, going 10-0 at the Kia Center until Sunday’s 100-91 setback to the Knicks. Mo Wagner had a game-high 32 points off the bench.
Jalen Suggs (16.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.9 APG), the team’s leading scorer with Banchero (29.0 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 5.6 APG) and Franz Wagner (24.4 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 5.7 APG) out of the lineup, had just nine points on an ugly 4-of-19 shooting.

Despite the off-night on Tuesday, SGA once again has a game-high point total of 30.5. Suggs has the highest total among Orlando players at just 19.5. OKC center Isaiah Hartenstein has the highest rebound total on the board at 11.5, followed by Orlando center Goga Bitadze.
Thunder vs Magic Predictions
Based on Sunday’s performance against the Knicks, it would be easy to conclude that all the injuries are finally starting to catch up with the Magic. But Orlando has been dealing with the absence of Banchero, their lone All-Star, since the end of October. They have underrated depth and play exceptionally disciplined defense. Orlando is currently third in the NBA in D-Rating at 106.1, a marked improvement so far over their 110.8 number from last season, which was also third-best in the league.
Orlando’s combination of tenacious defense and a sluggish pace (fourth-slowest in the NBA at 97.37) will be enough to keep them within striking distance, while Suggs has a bounce-back game from the perimeter.
OKC vs ORL picks:
- Orlando Magic +7.0 (-115) at DraftKings
- Suggs over 19.5 points (-122) at FanDuel
