Norwich vs Sheff Weds Prediction: Owls can make Canaries flap
The Championship continues with a midweek round of fixtures this week and on Wednesday night, Norwich City host Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls have just dragged themselves off the bottom of the table and will be hoping to build on a positive display at Stoke last time out. Below we have previewed the match and put forward a couple of betting selections.
Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Tips:
Team News
Norwich City will have half an eye on their derby with Ipswich Town on Saturday lunchtime, but they do have a fully fit squad to choose from for this one. Jonny Rowe’s minutes are being managed but he should turn out for the Canaries here, as David Wagner looks to get a positive home result.
Meanwhile, Wednesday are still without Juan Delgado and Dom Iorfa will miss most of the season with a serious hamstring injury. Michael Smith is back in contention to start after coming off the bench at Stoke, while Danny Rohl also has Pol Valentin back available.
Match Odds
Norwich City are 19/20 to win this match, with the Owls priced at 11/4 to take all three points. A draw can be backed at 5/2, over 2.5 goals is 5/6 and BTTS is 8/11.
Double Chance – Draw or Sheffield Wednesday @ 5/6
I like the odds on Sheffield Wednesday to win this match given their upturn in form, but I’m not brave enough to pick them to win outright. Instead, the double chance price of 5/6 on them to avoid defeat appeals to me. Wednesday have looked like a far more cohesive unit in their past two outings, beating Blackburn at home and Stoke away.
It appears that this group is getting to grips with what Danny Rohl is asking them to do, and perhaps finally understanding what is needed from them to compete at this level. On the other hand, I don’t fancy Norwich City at all this season. Despite rising to 13th, they failed to break down Preston last time out and they are only one poor result away from implosion. David Wagner still doesn’t feel like the long-term solution at Carrow Road and this group of players aren’t anything special. I fancy Wednesday to come away with at least a point here.
No goalscorer @ 9/1
We saw last time out at Carrow Road that Norwich struggled to break down a compact outfit. In that 0-0 draw with Preston, they created the better chances but failed to convert, leaving the home fans frustrated. With a trip to Portman Road on the horizon, frustration could settle in once more and Sheffield Wednesday will be more than happy to take a point.
The 0-0 draw is priced at 10/1, but the no goalscorer price of 9/1 is better in my eyes as even if an own goal is scored – the bet remains a winner. Sheffield Wednesday showed at Stoke how resolute they can be defensively, and the big price on the no goalscorer shout could deliver a big winner.
