Norway vs Scotland Prediction: McTominay to strike again

Scotland will seek to maintain their perfect start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign when they take on Norway on Saturday evening. We’ve previewed the game and have given you our best bets for the occasion.

Norway vs Scotland Tips

  • Match Result – Draw @ 9/4
  • Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 11/2

Saturday 17th June, 2023

17:00

Ullevaal Stadion

Norway’s (19/20) attempts to qualify for the European Championships for the first time since 2000 has not started too brightly after losing to Spain and drawing with Georgia.

The Scandinavian nation will be desperate to get a result here as they currently sit third in Group A and are immediately playing catch-up to the teams above them – one of them being their opponents this weekend.

A seven-game run without a clean sheet does not make for pleasant reading for Norwegian supporters either, although they did find the back of the net in all of their home qualifying games for Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, Scotland (5/2) won their opening two qualifying matches, beating Cyprus 3-0 before enjoying a famous 2-0 victory over 2008 and 2012 winners Spain.

Seeking to qualify for successive Euros finals for just the second time in their history, Steve Clarke’s side have been excellent at Hampden Park, but away from home it’s a different story, winning just one of their five games on rival turf in 2022.

Team News

It remains to be seen whether Erling Haaland will feature for Norway here following Manchester City’s treble success, while Marcus Pedersen missed Feyenoord’s final two games of the season with a knock but has nevertheless been included in the squad.

Scotland will be without Anthony Ralston due to injury, while Craig Gordon, Che Adams and Grant Hanley will also be absent.

Match Result – Draw @ 9/4

Scotland will be hoping to maintain their 100% record but a draw would not be the worst result in the world.

Clarke’s side haven’t travelled well as of late and as a result are often more pragmatic away from home, so I think backing the draw is a decent shout.

In addition, Norway have not won a competitive match in over a year, losing three of their four games since they beat Spain last June – with their last clean sheet coming against Slovenia 12 months ago.

Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 11/2

The Manchester United man is on fire for Scotland coming into this game.

The midfielder struck back-to-back braces for his nation in March, a double in the Tartan Army’s 3-0 win over Cyprus and scoring both goals in a victory against Spain.

His goals have propelled Scotland to the top of Group A and his versatility could be crucial once again for Steve Clarke and his side here.
