The Dutchman is finishing the season strongly with two wins in his last three races, and he will be looking for another in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
Verstappen is already laying down markers ahead of next season, and a win in the final race of the season would be another one.
The four-time world champion has already tried to sow seeds of doubt into the head of Lando Norris by claiming he would have won the world title if he had been driving Lando’s superior McLaren.
Despite Lando’s frosty response, the Brit will know deep down that Verstappen is probably right.
Furthermore, Norris also knows he simply hasn’t been good enough this season, and a lot of his own mistakes have played into the hands of his rival.
Betting without Verstappen
Before Norris can start worrying about next season, he has jobs of his own to finish off this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Thanks to another mistake from the British driver, his P2 finish in the drivers’ championship is now under threat from Charles Leclerc.
Yes, Norris is in danger of finishing third in a two-horse race. And as a result, the dreaded ‘betting without Max Verstappen’ market has re-emerged.
The mistake; Norris failed to slow down under a Yellow Flag. His latest elementary error resulted in a 10-second stop/go penalty. That took Norris from fighting with Verstappen for the lead to the back of the field.
Norris used the remaining laps to get back up to 10th place. But the damage was done.
Charles Leclerc finished P2 in Qatar and picked up 18 points. Norris had to make do with two points. One for finishing P10, and one for the fastest lap.
Norris chucked away at least 18 points for P2, and possibly 25 for P1. In doing so, he also gave Leclerc an extra three points, with the Ferrari driver finishing P2, rather than P3.
Norris (349) still holds an 8-point lead over Leclerc (341) heading into the last race. The McLaren man is -600 to win in the betting without Verstappen. Leclerc has it all to do and is +350 to claim an unlikely P2 in the Drivers’ Championship.

Our 2024 Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix betting picks and predictions
McLaren (640 pts) and Ferrari (619 pts) are still fighting for the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.
Holding a 21-point lead, McLaren is -900 to win the title. Ferrari is +550 to pip the British team at the post.
A 1-2 finish for Ferrari wouldn’t guarantee them the title. They would still be relying on a mistake from McLaren – something we’ve seen plenty of this season.
Furthermore, with Max Verstappen competitive again in his Red Bull, it’s unlikely that one of McLaren or Ferrari will dominate the race this weekend.
Despite this, McLaren is the favorite in the winning car betting. The leaders of the Constructors’ Championship are +150, with Red Bull second at +210, and Ferrari at +275.
If you believe Max Verstappen can win this race for Red Bull, it would be silly to back the Red Bull car in this market. Their No.2 driver Sergio Perez has done nothing for months. A bet on Max Verstappen to win the race at +225 would make more sense.
That is the route we are going to go down. The other teams have been too error-prone in recent weeks. Verstappen may have had issues with his car. But when his car is performing at a suitable level, he has proven that he is still by far the best driver.
And with McLaren and Ferrari under pressure this weekend, mistakes are more than likely to happen again.
A win for Max Verstappen is our pick.
