NFL Wide Receiver Rankings By Team: 2023 NFL Position Rankings

NFL Wide Receiver Rankings By Team: 2023 NFL Position Rankings

When it comes to NFL betting, the wide receiver position is often overvalued. But a team does need quality receiving talent if they are going to win games in this league nonetheless. Here, we rank each team in the NFL at the wide receiver position and get bettors an idea of what they can expect from each team at those spots in 2023 with our NFL wide receiver rankings.

32. New York Giants

Key Players at this Position: Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins, Jaylin Hyatt

As much as it hurts to write this as a Giants fan, the New York Giants have the worst receiving corps in the NFL. That could change if Jaylin Hyatt comes back from injury and turns into a quality pro. But not being able to rely on Darius Slayton to remain on the field and losing Richie James will combine to make this group a bleak one throughout the 2023 season.

31. Atlanta Falcons

Key Players at this Position: Drake London, Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller

Drake London has a bright future ahead of him, which is worth saying before going any further into this group. But the present day receiving group for the Falcons is simply poor. They will be hurt by a terrible quarterback situation as well, as Desmond Ridder struggled in limited action in his rookie year. But with little depth behind London, this group will have trouble all on its own.

30. Green Bay Packers

Key Players at this Position: Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs

Last year, Aaron Rodgers was around to prop up a group of receivers that was not all that good. This year, we should see some significant steps back from Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, as Jordan Love will be less capable of delivering them balls they can do damage on. While our NFL running back rankings look favorably on the Packers, the same cannot be said about our rankings of NFL wide receivers.

29. Indianapolis Colts

Key Players at this Position: Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, Isaiah McKenzie

Next up in our NFL wide receiver rankings are the Indianapolis Colts. This is another team that will be hurt by their quarterback situation when it comes to their receivers. Michael Pittman Jr. would make a good secondary option for a team, but he is not a number-one caliber target. With Gardner Minshew and Anthony Richardson throwing him the ball this season, that status should not change, as it could be a long year for the Colts.

28. Houston Texans

Key Players at this Position: Nico Collins, Robert Woods, John Metchie III

From this point on, we at least get some some decent groups of wide receivers, starting with the Houston Texans. Adding Robert Woods and John Metchie should improve the overall receiver group here, even if there will be some growing pains with them trying to catch passes from a rookie by the end of the year. On the bright side, this group should do better at staying on the field than the ensemble led by Brandin Cooks previously.

27. Arizona Cardinals

Key Players at this Position: Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore

Losing DeAndre Hopkins was a huge blow for the Arizona Cardinals, but the top-end talent still has the potential to do good things in this receiving corps. Marquise Brown has prospered with erratic passers before in Baltimore, and could do the same here with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, even in what could be a long year for the team as a whole.

26. Baltimore Ravens

Key Players at this Position: Rashod Bateman, Odell Beckham Jr., Devin Duvernay

Speaking of Baltimore, the Ravens added Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason to try and bolster their wide receiver room. That is not likely to be as effective a move as the betting public thinks, as Beckham has not played in a long time and suffered some devastating injuries before that. But there are some decent pieces here, as the Ravens hope to finally make a deep playoff run by putting weapons around Lamar Jackson.

25. Chicago Bears

Key Players at this Position: DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool

Another team that made a move at wide receiver to help an erratic quarterback is the Chicago Bears. They brought in DJ Moore to help the development of a quarterback in Justin Fields who led the most anemic passing attack in football from a season ago. We shall see if Moore is that impactful this season, but Mooney and Claypool alongside him make this a respectable group of receivers, which is a step in the right direction in Chicago.

24. Kansas City Chiefs

Key Players at this Position: Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore

The number one receiving option in Kansas City is always going to be tight end Travis Kelce, so there is not a lot of pressure on the wide receivers of this team. Still, you could do worse than Kadarius Toney and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as your top two wideouts. And no matter who is out there at this position, you expect Patrick Mahomes to find ways to get them the ball.

23. Detroit Lions

Key Players at this Position: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Jones Jr.

The Detroit Lions do not have a spectacular receiving corps, but it has worked well for them of late. They worked well with Jared Goff last season, as Goff cut down his turnovers and Amon-Ra St. Brown became one of the most exciting young receivers in the league. Another year like that, and the Lions will move up this list in a hurry.

22. Carolina Panthers

Key Players at this Position: Adam Thielen, DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault Jr.

The Carolina Panthers made a couple of upgrades at wide receiver this year, in spite of the loss of DJ Moore to the Bears. Adam Thielen is here now, after leaving the Minnesota Vikings. Meanwhile, DJ Chark is now a member of this roster, as the Panthers clearly prioritized adding receiving help around number one overall pick Bryce Young.

21. Denver Broncos

Key Players at this Position: Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, KJ Hamler

If the Denver Broncos can stay healthy at wide receiver this season, they could become a formidable group at this position. But injuries have plagued just about all of the key members of this receiving corps. That needs to change if the Broncos are going to become a better team than they were last year, regardless of any improvements Sean Payton may make as head coach.

20. New England Patriots

Key Players at this Position: JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne

Cracking the top-20 in our NFL wide receiver rankings is the New England Patriots. JuJu Smith-Schuster comes over this year from the champion Chiefs, while DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne are also nice pieces. If Mac Jones cannot make it work with this group of receivers, it may be time for Bill Belichick and company to begin looking elsewhere at the quarterback position.

19. New York Jets

Key Players at this Position: Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, Randall Cobb

The New York Jets put a lot of new faces around Garrett Wilson in their wide receiver room going into the 2023 season. Mecole Hardman is probably the most exciting of those options, though it remains to be seen how he will perform without Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes to make him look good. Other than that, they added several of Aaron Rodgers’ trusted targets from Green Bay, which isn’t exciting, but could work.

18. Tennessee Titans

Key Players at this Position: DeAndre Hopkins, Treylon Burks

As of June, the Tennessee Titans could have been at the bottom of this list. But they added DeAndre Hopkins, which at least gives them a respectable receiving corps going into the 2023 NFL season. Hopkins is joined by Treylon Burks and not much else. But that formula has worked for Hopkins’ teams at other stops in his career, and could work again here with Derrick Henry and the Titans running game to balance things out.

17. Washington Commanders

Key Players at this Position: Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel

The Washington Commanders are one of the underrated groups at wide receiver in the NFL. They don’t have a receiver who will make any superhuman plays, but they are solid all over the field at this position. This is another team with major quarterback questions that could negatively impact their receivers, but the talent here is undeniable.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars

Key Players at this Position: Christian Kirk, Calvin Ridley, Zay Jones

Trevor Lawrence took a nice leap at quarterback last season, and the wide receivers of the Jaguars were a huge reason why. This year, the Jaguars add Calvin Ridley into the mix, which could make them an even better group at this position. As long as Lawrence can avoid too many turnovers, this pass catching ensemble could really shine in Duval County in 2023.

15. New Orleans Saints

Key Players at this Position: Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, Rashid Shaheed

Starting off the top-15 in our NFL wide receiver rankings is the New Orleans Saints. The big question for this team at wide receiver will always be whether or not Michael Thomas can stay healthy. But with or without Thomas, Chris Olave is a number one caliber wide receiver in today’s NFL. And with a better quarterback situation around them this year, the Saints receivers should be exciting going into 2023.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Key Players at this Position: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Russell Gage

Mike Evans is one of the best individual wide receivers in the NFL, and he leads an above average receiving corps in Tampa Bay. This group could take a huge step back as a whole, thanks to the transition from Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield at quarterback. But in terms of their talent level in a vacuum, the Bucs have some serious weapons on the outside.

13. Buffalo Bills

Key Players at this Position: Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis

The Buffalo Bills don’t have a ton of depth at wide receiver, which is why they are a little lower on this list than one might expect. But having Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis certainly means that the Bills are not hurting at this position, especially with Josh Allen poised to throw them the ball. However, Diggs’ discontent with the organization could be an issue.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers

Key Players at this Position: Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Allen Robinson

Pittsburgh’s receiving corps is getting better and better, as they added Allen Robinson to a promising group consisting of Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. Pickens is becoming one of the best players in the league at reeling in difficult catches, and the Steelers should benefit at the receiver positions from the progression of Kenny Pickett.

11. Los Angeles Chargers

Key Players at this Position: Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer

Los Angeles’ AFC representatives are not a guarantee to stay healthy by any means. But if Keenan Allen and Mike Williams can remain on the field for most of this season, they will prove that they are one of the best groups in the league at this spot. Of course, the Chargers will need that to happen to make up for their anemic rushing attack.

10. Los Angeles Rams

Key Players at this Position: Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, Tutu Atwell

Opening the top-10 in our NFL wide receiver rankings is the Los Angeles Rams. After a down year last year, they should be better this season, thanks in large part to a healthy wide receiver group. Cooper Kupp is back this season, and Matthew Stafford is healthy again too. That duo should be dynamic again in 2023.

9. San Francisco 49ers

Key Players at this Position: Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings

What makes the San Francisco 49ers so special at wide receiver is the fact that their receivers can impact games in so many different ways. They can do so in the passing game, but Deebo Samuel’s ability to run the football or turn short passes into huge gains makes the Niners uniquely equipped to beat teams from this spot on the field.

8. Cleveland Browns

Key Players at this Position: Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Donovan Peoples-Jones

Last season, the Cleveland Browns showed plenty of potential at the wide receiver position, and they could get even better this season. Elijah Moore has arrived in Cleveland after a promising start to his career for the New York Jets, which was derailed with his dissatisfaction with his role in their offense. New York’s loss should be Cleveland’s gain as they look to have a big year with Deshaun Watson under center.

7. Seattle Seahawks

Key Players at this Position: DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Seattle’s offense is going to be exciting this year, thanks in large part to their elite group of wide receivers. This season, rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba out of Ohio State will join Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. All three of them in one offense should make Seattle a team that is hard to defend on passing downs, even if their running game struggles.

6. Minnesota Vikings

Key Players at this Position: Justin Jefferson, KJ Osborn, Jordan Addison

Justin Jefferson may be the best individual wide receiver in the NFL going into the 2023 season, and is the main reason the Minnesota Vikings are where they are in these rankings. Rookie Jordan Addison may not be as big an impact player as anticipated, as he could miss some time due to a speeding offense. But the Vikings will still have at least one of the best players in the league at this position.

5. Dallas Cowboys

Key Players at this Position: CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup

Now we are at the top-five in our NFL wide receiver rankings, and the Dallas Cowboys belong in that group. The addition of Brandin Cooks to the duo of CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup make this a truly dangerous group if Cooks can stay healthy. It should also help Dak Prescott avoid as many interceptions as he had a season ago.

4. Las Vegas Raiders

Key Players at this Position: Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Renfrow

Las Vegas also made a nice addition to their receiving group this past offseason, adding Jakobi Meyers to a group that already had Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow in it. The addition of Meyers should help offset the loss of tight end Darren Waller for the Raiders, who will try to make things as easy as possible for new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Key Players at this Position: AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith

Jalen Hurts became one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL last season, and his wide receivers were a big reason why. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both made a series of explosive plays last year, and they will be incredibly difficult to defend again in 2023.

2. Miami Dolphins

Key Players at this Position: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle

Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle emerged as a nearly unstoppable receiving duo last season. Even with Skylar Thompson starting way more games than the Dolphins would have wanted, they combined for 3,000 receiving yards. This year, they should be a threat to do the same, especially if Tua Tagovailoa is protected more consistently.

1. Cincinnati Bengals

Key Players at this Position: Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd

Coming in at number one in our NFL wide receiver rankings is the Cincinnati Bengals. Having Joe Burrow at quarterback is always good for a group of receivers, but the trio of Chase, Higgins, and Boyd is better than any receiving trio in the league right now. This group of receivers will help the Bengals be a Super Bowl contender once again this year.
