Newton Abbot Tips: Magical Maggie to sparkle once again

Newton Abbot Tips: Magical Maggie to sparkle once again

There are no fewer than six race meetings to come across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, including Newton Abbot’s seven-race jumps offering.

With no rain in sight, the going is expected to be good-good to firm in places for Wednesday’s meeting and all three of our tips are looking to secure back-to-back victories for connections.

Newton Abbot Betting Tips

  • 14:00 – Heneryetta Bay @ 7/4
  • 14:30 – Magical Maggie @ 5/6
  • 15:40 – Light N Strike @ 7/4

Date: Wednesday 14th June
Time: First race at 14:00
Location: Newton Abbot, Devon

14:00 – Heneryetta Bay @ 7/4

Warren Greatrex and his team have not had too many runners out on the track of late, but they will still expect a big performance from HENERYETTA BAY.

The seven-year-old has been very busy since the spring, with connections clearly trying to establish just what they have at their disposal.

Greatrex’s runner finished seventh twice in March and April, either side of a fourth-placed effort at Wetherby on March 31.

However, in May, Heneryetta Bay seemed to find some consistency, finishing second, third and first last month.

She appreciated the step up in trip to two miles and seven furlongs last time out and Greatrex’s runner may do even better over three miles on Wednesday.

14:30 – Magical Maggie @ 5/6

Consistent accurately sums up MAGICAL MAGGIE this season, as the six-year-old has yet to finish outside the top two in 2023.

Alastair Ralph’s runner ended 2022 with three wins to her name, but the extra experience has clearly made a difference in the last few weeks.

Wins at Cartmel and Ludlow will have handed connections a huge lift and she has now won five from her previous nine starts.

The handicapper has only penalised her with a 2lb penalty, so expect more to come on Wednesday in a four-horse race where she looks way ahead of her rivals.

Horse Racing Odds

15:40 – Light N Strike @ 7/4

After a disappointing season as a hurdler, LIGHT N STRIKE was switched back to fences after a 175-day break in April.

The move undoubtedly paid off, with the seven-year-old finishing second at Kempton behind Triple Trade.

After that strong run in Surrey, Tom Bellamy stayed on board and guided him to a comfortable win at Warwick last month ahead of Espion Du Chenet.

An 8lb rise is quite the penalty for Emma Lavelle’s runner, but she and her team clearly feel the time is right for another crack at a decent prize pot.

Noahthirtytwored remains the main danger but still has something to prove after backing up a fall at Southwell with a fourth at Lingfield, albeit by just two lengths.

Light N Strike should have superior class and his consistency means he is fast becoming a horse to follow.
