It’s the first day of the Dubai Future Champions Festival on Friday and it promises to be a fantastic day of action in Suffolk.
There’s high-quality action throughout, featuring the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at 16:10.
15:35 – Westerton @ 12/1
There’s a high-class field going to post for the Old Rowley Cup Handicap at 15:35 and it could pay to side with Westerton.
Alan King’s runner is a progressive individual, who has moved from a mark of 82 at the start of the year to his current rating of 100 and the improvement doesn’t look to have stopped.
The three-year-old ran a cracker when finishing a neck second to Maximilian Caesar at Doncaster last time out and the front two drew a staggering eight and a quarter-lengths clear of the third-placed horse on that day.
Westerton’s form figures in his last six starts reads 221352, and King’s charge will have no problem if the forecast heavy rain arrives and creates testing conditions.
16:10 – Classical Song @ 10/3
Classical Song looked a good filly when winning at Sandown last time out and Ralph Beckett’s runner looks the smart play in the Fillies’ Mile.
It was only a novice race at Sandown, but that confirmed the promise of the debut start at Glorious Goodwood, and that first outing came on soft ground.
The two-year-old is one of a field of unexposed and promising runners but, at the prices, Classical Song looks the value to call the tune.
17:55 – Never Ending @ 16/1
The final race on the card is the Newmarket Pony Academy Pride Stakes at 17:55 and Never Ending looks the bet here.
John & Thady Gosden’s charge kept on well to score over this trip on soft ground at Leicester last time out and the three-year-old looks a filly on the upgrade.
Never Ending has had only six career starts and although this Goodwood novice winner will have to improve beyond a mark of 86, many of her rivals may struggle to operate on the likely testing conditions.
