Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon (16.30) for a mouth-watering Premier League clash.
The Magpies lost out to Manchester City last weekend, while Liverpool came from behind to beat Bournemouth at Anfield.
Team News
Joelinton was taken off in the second half against Manchester City last weekend, so he remains a doubt for this Sunday.
Javier Manquillo and Joe Willock remain a out of contention here, while new signing Lewis Hall could make his debut for the Magpies this weekend.
As for Liverpool, Alexis Mac Allister will be available after his red card against Bournemouth was overturned, however, neither Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones will be able to fill the void in midfield as they both remain on the sidelines.
However, Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to start at St James Park following an injury scare against the Cherries last week.
Newcastle to win @ 23/20
Admittedly, this is a tough game to call, but the home advantage is what swings in favour of Newcastle, in my opinion.
The Magpies have lost their previous 13 games against the Reds, but St James Park has become a real fortress under Eddie Howe, and with Liverpool looking less than convincing in their opening two matches, I’m expecting Newcastle to lay down a marker and make it back-to-back home victories.
Eddie Howe’s side thrashed a strong Aston Villa 5-1 in their opening game at home, while putting in a respectable performance against Manchester City last weekend.
Alexander Isak to score anytime @ EVS
Alexander Isak remains Newcastle’s most potent threat and continues to display why the Magpies paid the big bucks for him.
The Swedish international already has two goals to his name this season – both in the win against Aston Villa – and ended his maiden campaign with 10 strikes in 22 top-flight matches.
He scored in the 2-1 defeat at Anfield last season and I fancy him to cause havoc in front of the Newcastle faithful on Sunday.
