Newcastle Tips: Sun to shine on Tyneside

Newcastle Tips: Sun to shine on Tyneside

All eyes will be on Royal Ascot on Wednesday, but once the dust has settled on the second day of action in Berkshire there are winners to be found at Newcastle.

The Gosforth Park venue stages an eight-race card including three interesting novice events.

Newcastle Betting Tips

  • 17:19 – Sun Festival @ 2/1
  • 19:50 – East End Girl @ 10/3
  • 20:20 – Ghost Rider @ 7/2

Date: Wednesday 21st June
Time: First race at 17:19
Location: Gosforth Park, Newcastle upon Tyne

17:19 – Sun Festival @ 2/1

The card gets underway with a 0-55 handicap over a-mile-and-a-quarter and it can go to last-time-out winner SUN FESTIVAL.

Joseph Parr’s runner was sent off odds-on when scoring with authority at Brighton earlier this month and the five-year-old was value for more than the two-length winning margin on that occasion. That run followed an excellent second behind subsequent winner Storm Asset at Wolverhampton and Parr’s charge is on the up.

Kaiya Fraser takes off a handy five pounds this evening to offset the rising mark and the five-year-old is a winner on synthetic tracks, having scored at Wolverhampton last year.

19:50 – East End Girl @ 10/3

A small field goes to post for the staying handicap over two miles at 19:50 and EAST END GIRL punters can have a good old knees-up with Lucy Wadham’s charge.

The six-year-old has done well over hurdles, without totally convincing in the jumping department, but East End Girl has also proved effective on the level.

Wadham’s runner ran well off a mark of 99 over the sticks at Fakenham in April and she goes to post off a rating of 70 on the flat this evening.

East End Girl scored well off a mark of 69 at this track over one-mile-and-four-furlongs last August, and the step up in trip may well bring about some more improvement and the cheek-pieces go on today.

20:20 – Ghost Rider @ 7/2

GHOST RIDER achieved a peak rating of 86 when trained by Mark Johnston, and while the five-year-old is yet to shine for current trainer Grant Tuer, today may be the day.

Ghost Rider is down to a mark of 64, that gets Tuer’s runner into this 0-65 handicap and it’s the lowest grade of race the five-year-old has contested for sometime.

Tuer’s charge has won at the Gosforth Park venue previously and the drop in grade could prove the tonic.
