On Thursday, the New York State Gaming Commission reported mobile sports betting revenue of $56.9 million for the week ending Dec. 10, as the house bounced back with a vengeance from a sub-5% hold two weeks ago.

The revenue total is the third-largest in the 101 weeks mobile wagering apps have been available in the Empire State, slotting behind the record $62 million set Oct. 15 and the $57.5 million claimed Jan. 22. The nine digital apps combined for a hold of 13.9%, good for fourth all-time while reaching double digits for the 35th time overall.

New York’s sportsbooks were likely helped out by a few surprises in Week 14 of the NFL season, which began with two-win New England upsetting Pittsburgh on the road last Thursday. All three road favorites who played Sunday — Detroit, Houston and Minnesota — failed to cover, with the Lions and Texans losing outright. Kansas City, a favorite of the betting public, lost at home to Buffalo, while division leaders Baltimore and San Francisco failed to cover in their victories.

FanDuel and DraftKings provide 1-2 punch

Online titans FanDuel and DraftKings surpassed $20 million in revenue in the same week for the third time this year, as both posted top-five all-time weekly totals. FanDuel claimed $27.1 million in winnings — its third-best week — from $176.9 million handle, good for a 15.3% hold that was its highest since reaching 16.5% the week of Sept. 10.

DraftKings’ $20.2 million haul was its fourth-best showing in the Empire State. That resulted from crafting a 13.8% win rate from $145.8 million worth of accepted wagers. That hold percentage was the sportsbook’s best since a 15.8% hold the week of Oct. 15. It was the second time in nine weeks that DraftKings topped $20 million in winnings, as it also moved past $875 million in all-time revenue.

BetMGM‘s revenue of $2.9 million was just enough to crack into its top five all-time list, as it had a 12.6% hold from $22.9 million handle. Caesars had its biggest weekly win in nearly two months, keeping almost $4.5 million of the $41.6 million bet for a hold of 10.8%.

BetRivers rounded out the books with $1 million-plus revenue for the week, clearing the mark by close to $83,000 while accepting $11.7 million in wagers. It is all but certain to become the fifth mobile betting app in the state to reach $1 billion in handle next week, needing less than $4.7 million to reach that milestone.

Fanatics-owned PointsBet topped $700,000 in winnings for the third time in six weeks, claiming almost $829,000 while posting a 13.1% win rate.

Bally Bet, Resorts World, and WynnBET rounded out the group with a combined total of more than $363,000. Bally Bet posted top-three in-house totals for handle and revenue, notable improvements since its return following the migration of its sportsbook to Kambi.
