National League Winner Odds: Bees could return to EFL in style

National League Winner Odds: Bees could return to EFL in style

  • By Admin

The National League season is 15 games old and the division has started to take shape with the prize of two places in League Two the ultimate aim.

With a week of cup action for teams at this level upcoming, here’s a look at the outright picture and two selections.

National League Winner Odds

  • Barnet to win the National League @ 3/1
  • Gateshead to be promoted @ 5/2

Barnet to win the National League @ 3/1

Last season’s National League became a fierce battle for the title between Wrexham and Notts County as the pair pulled well clear.

Both teams were eventually promoted and it looks as though another battle between two teams could ensue this time around.

Chesterfield are as short as 4/11 to win the title after losing just one of their opening 15 matches to sit three points clear at the top of the pile.

Barnet are in second position, with a three-point buffer to Solihull Moors, and the Bees may be a spot of value to win the division at 3/1.

Dean Brennan’s side have a better defensive record than the league leaders, conceding just 19 times in 15 matches and they have also netted 32.

In Nicke Kabamba they have one of the most solid goal threats in the division, he has already found the net 11 times.

Chesterfield have played the fewest players of any side in the division, 19, and any injury issues to their small squad could wreak havoc.

Stars such as Liam Mandeville may also attract attention from EFL suitors after their strong start to the season.

The Spireites are rightful favourites under Paul Cook but they look short enough and Barnet look worth chancing at bigger odds.

Gateshead to be promoted @ 5/2

The quest to be promoted from the National League is a tough one considering that there are just two spots available to return to the Football League.

However if there is one progressive team that could disrupt the top two of Chesterfield and Barnet it may be Gateshead.

Mike Williamson’s side have received plenty of praise for their style of play and they have been one of the top scoring sides in the division, netting 34 times in 15 games.

With one of the youngest teams in the league, Williamson’s side have struggled with their consistency.

However, on their day they are a match for any team and could be hard to beat in the play-offs should it come to that.

The Heed make plenty of appeal at 5/2 to go up.

Outsiders

Solihull Moors have had a solid start to the campaign, taking 30 points from their opening 15 matches, and they are 28/1 chances to win the title.

Moors have lost just once all season and have the best defensive record in the league, if they can add a few more goals to their side they could outrun their price.

Altrincham have been on an impressive run of five wins in a row and are priced up at 40/1 for the title.
