NAP of the Day: Mare with a hell of a chance
It’s a busy day of action on Monday with no fewer than five meetings taking place in the UK and Ireland including jumps cards from Newton Abbot, Galway and Perth as well as Flat action on the all-weather at Wolverhampton and on turf at Brighton.
My nap of the day for Monday comes in the form of a last-time-out winner on the south coast.
NAP of the Day – Monday, September 9
- 14:20 Brighton – Hellavapace @ 6/5
14:20 Brighton Odds
A talented apprentice rider can be worth their weight in gold and in Olivia Tubb, trainer Johnny Portman has a young jockey who has made a really promising start to her career over the last 18 months.
Tubb boasts an impressive 15 per cent strike-rate this season and backing all of her rides this term would have yielded a profit of £14.45 to £1 level stakes.
Her latest success came on board the mare Hellavapace a week ago and Tubb reunites with the six-year-old on Monday afternoon over the same course and distance.
Hellavapace has to carry a 5lb penalty for last week’s success but she was well on top at the line to score by a cosy two lengths.
The yard is in flying form with a 24 per cent strike-rate in recent weeks and this does not look like a strong race for the grade, so if the daughter of Hellvelyn can build on last week’s effort, she could be hard to beat from a workable mark.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
