Nap of the Day: Johnston inmate can go one better
Full disclosure – Sunday’s selection drifted like a barge and ran like a drain. Whatever that might look like.
Onward and upwards for a new week; one with a little less rain if possible, but that could prove tricky. Monday’s fare comprises National Hunt action from Ayr and Lingfield, plus Polytrack intrigue on the flat.
Love the sand, and it’s a safer bet weather-wise, so it’s to Essex we journey for The Only Way Is Chelmsford. TOWIC. Rolls off the tongue a treat.
Owen’s back this week, but for now let’s see if we can chalk one up on Monday.
Nap of the Day, Monday
- 19.30 Chelmsford – Urban Sprawl @ 7/2
19.30 Chelmsford – Urban Sprawl @ 7/2
For the nap I’m going to the powerful Charlie Johnston stable up on Middleham Moor. Urban Sprawl chased home at very close quarters a winning nap from last week, Talis Evolvere, being just a neck down at the line at Wolverhampton.
It took all of Rossa Ryan’s considerable skills to overhaul Urban Sprawl in the dying strides, and it was fully 3.25l back to the third. Warm form I’d say – and just 6 days later the Yorkshire-based raiders are motoring again, this time all the way to Chelmsford. I’m taking that as a massive positive and supporting the move wholeheartedly.
This is a 3-yr-old colt by Iffraaj, already has a considerable amount of experience, and was running off 91 in the summer. He’s dropped to 85 now, the same as when just missing out last week, and for me it’s evident that his turn is once again at hand.
At Wolves the trip was 8.5f, and he just got reeled in in the shadow of the post. Back 110 yds or so here to a flat mile, and that can’t do any harm whatsoever for me. Danny Muscutt was on board last time and keeps the ride, which is another big plus. Fingers crossed for a great run at a decent price.
He’s been running at a slightly higher level recently in the main so gets a small drop to a Class 4 on Monday, which can only help. Nice little contest.
Have a cracking week.
