Nap of the Day: Home James, for our three-in-a-row
This is a pleasant thing to be writing. Ahem (coughs, slightly embarrassed). We’re going for a hat-trick! Hollie did us proud on Wednesday (Kissininthebackrow), advised 7/2 and won @ 6/1; then Oisin absolutely hosed up at Epsom last night (Miss Information), tipped up at 15/8 and returned the well-backed 6/5 jolly. Lovely stuff.
For the potential three-timer I’m heading to Nottingham, where all will shortly be revealed …
16:00 – Breckenridge @ 13/8
Modest little 10f novice that’s unlikely to generate too many headlines or column inches, but I’ve a good feeling about it. I think.
Breckenridge is a three-year-old filly by Derby winner Masar. Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy at Newmarket she’s had four starts to date, with the last at Goodwood five weeks ago probably the pick.
It was a Class 5 handicap, and she was beaten only 3l, doing her best work in the latter stages. Back in novice company she has at least an edge in experience over the likely favourite and main rival Path To Glory, who’s run just the once, showing promise at Ripon.
Nottingham with probably a bit of cut in the ground is a different proposition though to the famous ridges on good ground up at Ripon, and The Doyler could just coax this one home, maximising that experience angle and opening the filly’s account.
It’s not a deep race and the jockey booking is massively encouraging.
