Well done to whoever’s responsible for Sky Sports scheduling this evening. Whether by design or quirk of fate they’ve landed on a League One match between the division’s top two, Portsmouth and Bolton.
Wanderers trail Pompey by three points but they’ve a game in hand and a win tonight would take them top of the table.
They’re unbeaten since early October, a run of 11 games in all competitions, of which they’ve won 10, so they couldn’t be in better shape ahead of tonight’s clash.
Portsmouth have been equally impressive in League One, suffering just one defeat all season. That came a few weeks ago in the shape of a shock 4-0 thumping at home by Blackpool, which ended an incredible 27-game unbeaten run in League One.
They’ve bounced back with two wins since to reclaim top spot, all the more impressive considering a mountain of injuries that they’ve had to deal with this season.
Home advantage means Portsmouth are tonight’s favourites at 7/5 with the visitors at 15/8 to win this fixture for the first time since 2009.
Pompey’s top scorer Colby Bishop will miss out for the hosts which might just swing things in favour of Bolton who have only conceded once in their last NINE matches. 15/8 on the outright market appeals but we keep the draw onside by backing the Trotters at even money in the Draw no Bet market.
