The 13th game of the 2023 MLC season began on July 23 between WAF & MINY. This significant meeting was held in Church Street Park. With a victory in today’s match, MI New York moved up the standings in the points standings. Washington, despite losing, continues to hold down the second spot.

When Freedom batted first, Andrie Gous and Matthew Short gave them a strong start, but the slower bowlers from MINY applied the breaks and reduced them to 57/3 in the ninth over. Washington reached a respectable total of 160 thanks to some solid hitting from Glenn Phillips and Moises Henriques in the final five overs, which produced 55 runs.

Monank Patel (44 off 29) and Shayan Jahangir (29 off 21), who contributed 67 runs in only seven overs for the first wicket, gave MINY a flying start in their pursuit of 161 runs. On the field and with the ball, the Washington Freedom had a poor appearance. While Akeal Hosein and Dane Piedt were orderly and each took one, Anrich Nortje appeared to be deadly.

However, the rest of the bowling team took a severe beating, and Freedom was essentially a no-show with the ball. With 27 balls remaining, Nicholas Pooran scored 62* off of 33 to give MINY the victory.

Let’s now examine how the foreign players performed in the 13th match of the MLC season: WAF & MINY

WAF & MINY Players’ performances:

(WAF) Glenn Phillips: Phillips pitched a solid inning, scoring 47 (35) runs at a 134 percent strike rate. In the penultimate over of the second inning, Pollard eventually got rid of him after his innings, which included two fours and three sixes.

(WAF) Moises Henriques

In today’s game, Moises made a few runs, but not as quickly as he had intended. With a strike rate of just 106.6, he managed to score 32 runs while only hitting two boundaries. In addition, he returned without a wicket and was incredibly expensive with the ball traveling at 16.6 RPO.

Akeal Hosein (WAF)

Before being castled by Boult, Hosein only managed to hit one single six and score eight points. He was exceptionally accurate with the ball, though, as his two overs only netted nine runs. During the final ball of the seventh over, he did succeed in taking a critical scalp off of Monak Patel. In the course of his spell, only one border was given in.

(WAF) Marco Jansen

In the final two runs of the inning, Marco scored 8 (2) runs, one of which was a six. However, despite the ball traveling at approximately 10 RPO, he was unable to have any impression. He went wicketless and gave up three fours and a six in his three overs.

WAF’s Anrich Nortje

Nortje had excellent control of the ball, giving up just 13 runs in 3 overs at slightly over 4 RPO. In the course of his entire spell, he bowled 10 dots without recording a wicket.

MINY’s Nicholas Pooran

Pooran’s dazzling cameo of 62 (33) helped his team win with a resounding victory. He and Pollard combined for an unbroken 53-run third-wicket stand to demolish Washington. He was named man of the match for his valiant efforts with the bat and scored runs at an amazing strike rate of 187.87.

MINY’s Kieron Pollard
Pollard also got involved, initially with the ball and then with the bat. Henriques and Phillips were the prize wickets in his final total of 2/33. Additionally, Pollard and Pooran utterly destroyed the Washington bowling staff when it was their chance to bat. He hit a perfect 21 (10), which included
four and two sixes.

David Tim (MINY)

David was not given the opportunity to bat or bowl, although he did take a fine catch off Pollard’s bowling to cause Phillips to be dismissed.

MINY David Wiese

Wiese made a modest overcorrection with the bat, giving up 37 runs at a 9.25 RPO economy rate. He gave up two fours, three wides, and as many sixes as each of them. He did, however, manage to take one wicket, that of Matthew Short. In this game, he was not given the opportunity to bat.

MINY Rashid Khan

Rashid was not given the opportunity to bat, but he showed to be very frugal with the ball. His four innings only yielded 29 runs, including 10 dot balls. In this game, Andries Gous was the sole wicket he claimed.

(MINY) Trent Boult

Boult turned out to be pricey when used at RPO levels considerably above 10. He was originally put through the ringer and gave up six fours and a six during his tenure. In the final over of the first innings, he did manage to claim the wicket of Akeal Hosein.
