This month, we bring you the experience of Mantas, a coach and Mintos investor living in Lithuania, who shared how he started investing and why he diversifies his investments.
Mantas, tell us about how you started investing
“A few years ago, I was talking to a friend of mine about investing. I didn’t know much about it at the time, so I asked for his advice. He suggested Mintos and I thought I would check it out. I knew it was a Latvian company, which is relatively local. It’s also pretty young and innovative, which I found attractive. I started by investing some money and then taking it out, just to make sure I was able to take money out whenever I wanted. Once that worked, I really started investing.”
Can you tell us about your approach when you started investing on Mintos?
“My approach when I first started investing was very different from my approach now. I learned how to invest through trial and error, but now I can say I feel confident with investing. At first, I wanted to make money fast. I started investing in short-term, higher-risk investments, which is not a good suggestion for new investors. I learned that investing is not a fast moneymaker, and it takes time.”
How has your investment approach changed?
“Now I invest in long-term loans, and I have been successful with that method. I plan to continue investing for a long time and I don’t need to use the money anytime soon, so there is time for it to grow. These are good conditions for investing. I also take diversification very seriously, and I have about 70 different investments on Mintos. This actually helped a lot when the economy took a nosedive with COVID-19, then the Russia-Ukraine war. Not to say that my investments were immune to everything happening in the economy. Some of my investments were still impacted. However, once money on my Overdue page started coming back, I knew I didn’t need to worry about it.”

Do you have any closing thoughts for us?
“I really like how easy it is to invest on Mintos. It is very transparent and user-friendly. That’s actually why I agreed to speak with you. I think if a company does a good job at something, they should be told so. I like that Mintos is always improving and coming out with new investment opportunities.”
