  • By Admin

I’m all about family traditions, and this Midnight Milk and Cookies idea has been something our family has done the last few years on New Year’s Eve! My kids are old enough to where they want to stay up until midnight now. (And we actually let them! Ha!) This idea is cute, easy, and a fun family tradition!

Start a New Year’s Eve Midnight Cookies Tradition This Year!

You can make or buy cookies. I like to rim the milk glasses with sprinkles, too!

Supplies for New Year’s Eve Midnight Milk and Cookies

  • Cookies – Of course! You can buy or make them.
  • White Candy Melts – You could also use white chocolate.
  • Sprinkles – I like using brightly colored sprinkles, but you could use traditional New Year’s Eve black, gold, and silver, too!
  • Party Cups –  I always use clear plastic ones. I like the look of the sprinkles on the rims!
  • A Serving Tray – I have this white one and love it!

Instructions for Cookies at Midnight for Kids!

First, place the sprinkles in a shallow dish that is wider than the top of the cups. Melt the candy melts in a separate shallow dish in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time. Flip each cup upside down and dip the rim in the melted candy melts. Then press it into the sprinkles. Let it set completely. (It could take up to 45 minutes.)

Next, arrange the cookies on the tray in the shape of the year.

This Midnight Milk and Cookies Idea is a FUN New Year’s Eve tradition for older kids who are old enough to stay up until midnight! Arrange the mini cookies in the shape of a year for a memorable midnight snack!

Materials

  • White Chocolate Candy Melts
  • Sprinkles
  • Straws, if desired
  • Mini cookies
  • Milk
  • Plastic Party Cups

Instructions

  1. Melt the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments, stirring in between each time. Place the sprinkles in a shallow dish which has a diameter greater than the party cups.
  2. Dip the rim of the glasses in the candy melts and then roll gently in the sprinkles. Let the party cups dry upside down so the chocolate doesn’t melt down the side of the glass.
  3. Arrange the cookies in the shape of the year, if desired. Or, if you have regular-sized cookies, just arranging them on a platter is just fine! You don’t have to use mini cookies.
  4. Pour the milk right before midnight and enjoy a toast with your kiddos as the clock strikes 12!
