Seize the Day
I love the changing of seasons, Reader.
Not just because I live in Melbourne and I get to see and enjoy all four seasons (sometimes in one day…), but also because it’s a reflection of how life can be. Or rather, a reminder of how life is.
So recently I’ve attended a number of funerals, and it’s got me thinking a lot about ageing…and dying. Nothing is certain and tomorrow is not promised.
Which is why next week I’m taking my 13yo daughter Lady AB to Canada. Here’s the story…
As a child, I loved reading and watching Anne of Green Gables, and visiting Prince Edward Island has always been a childhood dream.
My 13yo daughter is now reading the same worn box set of Anne of Green Gables books that I got on my 15th birthday. One day I said to her “Hey one day we could go to PEI together – maybe when you’re 18?”
She looked at me thoughtfully and replied, “Actually – when I’m 18, I’m probably going to want to travel with my friends.”
OUCH. But probably true.
Right now, she’s still at an age where she’s happy hanging out with her mum. That may not last forever.
I’m currently healthy, fit, and mobile. That may not last forever either.
So, in the spirit of carpe diem, next week I’m travelling with Lady AB to Canada, including Prince Edward Island, for the spring school holidays.
Why am I telling you this?
Firstly, if you have hopes, desires, and places on your bucket list, and you have the resources and opportunity to do those things, don’t wait! You don’t want to live with regret.
Secondly, my amazing team is taking over while I’m overseas. We’ve been working hard to get everything ready so we can inspire you to have more fun and create happy memories during the spring school holidays!
Wishing you all a safe and happy spring break.
Joyce xx
P.S. Next week we’re launching The Daily Scoop, a 3-email school holiday series that’s going to take you from unspired and overwhelmed to competing for the title of Fun Parent/Carer! If you wish to opt out of this spring school holiday series (eg. because you’re heading overseas like me), click here. You will continue to receive our regular bi-weekly newsletters.
P.P.S. If you’re interested in following my Canadian adventures, you can check out my posts on Facebook and Instagram.
