Skindays: What’s your earliest skincare memory?
Jeanette Grøn Thottrup: Seeing my mother taking great care of her skin from a young age and I guess that’s what subconsciously inspired me to pursue something that was always a hobby into a lifestyle brand.
SD: What inspired you to start Seed to Skin?
JGT: I truly wanted to merge nature and science in the most efficient way possible. Many had their doubts and I guess that’s what pushed me to prove them wrong. At the time there was a true gap in the market of natural products that give scientific results, so I thought why not be the first to truly create a brand that is as rich in active ingredients, if not more, by myself.
SD: How does the Tuscan environment influence your products and processes?
JGT: Well having our own farm, we can 100% control every step of the process. From the moment the seeds are planted, harvested, distilled, formulated till the final bottling process. It enables us to be one of the only brands to test the efficacy and potency of our products at every phase until the end result. In addition the fact that we have a bio-certified farm where there’s chickens, vegetables gardens and animals roam allows us to have a bio-autonomy with nature which enables our ingredients to thrive. We also have an experimenting garden where we test and see how well our plants grow in the Sienese climate.
SD: When creating your first range of products, what was the primary focus?
JGT: Potency, purity and real life results.
SD: What are the two products you recommend the most to your girlfriends when they ask you for advice?
JGT: The Divine Cleanse & The Source and Force as moisturisers.
SD: What are some of the unique ingredients used in your products, and why did you choose them?
JGT: I would say a hero ingredient that not many brands tap into is marine algae and thermal plankton. They are enriched with essential vitamins and minerals that our skin craves and it truly gives your skin all the essentials to glow! Not even to mention it works profoundly within the skin cells to generate cell turnover and promote collagen production.
SD: What has been the most rewarding aspect of your journey with Seed to Skin?
JGT: There’s many things, but if you have to ask for one I would say it is when we got back the lab results from one of the best clinics in the world about how well our products performed. Data doesn’t lie & knowing our products performed so well it means that everything we do and set out to achieve by making natural skincare potent, is working.
SD: What’s next for Seed to Skin?
JGT: We are soon launching a new category of Seed to Skin and I am so excited for everyone to try it! Although, I keep my secrets close and will just have to say – follow along to wait and see!
