The JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa at the Rampart Casino in Summerlin will undergo a $75 million renovation encompassing the conference center, guest rooms, and lobby, among other parts of the venue.
The announcement coincides with the 25th anniversary of the casino resort located in the western part of Las Vegas. The JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa at the Rampart Casino is one of several of the hotelier’s venues in Las Vegas, but it’s one of just a small number that has direct ties to a gaming venue. In October, it was revealed that MGM Resorts International’s non-gaming Delano Hotel on the Strip will rebrand to Marriott’s W brand.
W hotels are part of the broader Bonvoy portfolio, indicating the Las Vegas venue could be added to the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy. Revealed in July 2023, the licensing agreement covers MGM’s 17 domestic properties, including those on the Las Vegas Strip and the brand’s regional casino hotels.
The Rampart hotel renovation was described as “multi-year” and a press release announcing the project didn’t include an estimated completion date. The casino there is owned and operated by Hotspur Resorts, a unit Canada-based Larco Hospitality.
Marriot Rampart Casino Renovation Details
Renovations at the Summerlin casino hotel will touch on areas ranging from aesthetics to architecture to technology, indicating the finished product could have broad appeal to the Las Vegas locals and travelers that frequent the property.
The resort’s renovated guest rooms boast 560 square feet of interiors equipped with elevated furniture packages that include residential dining tables, couches, ceiling fans, 65-inch smart TVs, and coffee machines,” according to the press release. “The desert-inspired color palette evokes a feeling of calm and serenity. The rooms and corridor areas subtly pull design inspiration from surrounding landscapes and utilize bold textures and glistening metallic finishes. In addition, 98 of the resort’s 548 guestrooms offer walk-out and Juliette balconies, and 11 guestrooms and suites offer walk-out terraces, allowing guests to fully connect with the tranquility of the resort’s lush gardens, waterfalls, and koi ponds.”
Calgary-based FRANK Architecture and Interiors is overseeing the project. The firm’s portfolio includes an array of hospitality and leisure venues, including eateries and hotels.
Why Marriott Rampart Renovation Matters
News of the renovation at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa at the Rampart Casino arrives amid intensifying competition in the Las Vegas locals market, particularly among higher-end properties.
That competition was increased a year ago when Red Rock Resorts’ Durango Casino & Resort in Southwest Las Vegas opened its doors. Durango’s debut and subsequent success is something that cannot be ignored, particularly by casinos in Summerlin, which previously drew much of the traffic that now goes to the new gaming venue.
In addition to Boyd Gaming’s Suncoast and Red Rock’s namesake casino hotel, Rampart is among the properties that are tussling with Durango for Southwest Las Vegas supremacy.
