Lyon vs Nice Prediction: Hosts to inflict further away misery to Nice
Lyon seek a fourth-consecutive victory when they welcome Nice to the Groupama Stadium for Friday’s Ligue 1 clash.
Les Gones beat Marseille, Lille and Montpellier in the space of a week to move three points clear of the relegation zone and into the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, while Nice have lost three of their last four road games in the league.
Team News
Lyon will be without Jake O’Brien due to suspension, while Johan Lepenant will remain absent due to a knee injury and Corentin Tolisso is currently battling a hamstring problem.
As for Nice, Dante was shown a straight-red card against Monaco last time out, so he will also suspended, while Sofiane Diop is also expected to miss the trip to the Groupama Stadium due to a foot injury. However, Terem Moffi and Jeremie Boga are both expected to return from their Africa Cup of Nations exploits for this game.
Match Odds
Lyon are 13/8 to win on home soil, the draw is 11/5 and Nice are 9/5 to claim a much-needed victory on the road.
Both teams to score can be backed at 4/5, while the reverse fixture between the sides was 0-0 and a repeat of that scoreline is priced up at 15/2.
Lyon to win to nil @ 16/5
Lyon’s resurgence under Pierre Sage has seen them slowly move away from the relegation zone in Ligue 1 and into the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
Les Gones can extend their three-game winning streak here against a Nice side that have been inconsistent on the road.
Three of Lyon’s last four home games have been won with clean sheets – two of them by 1-0 scorelines. Meanwhile, Nice have failed to score in four of their last five away league games.
Nice will also travel north without their captain Dante due to suspension, which is a huge loss, and they’ve scored just eight away goals in Ligue 1 this season – fewer than any of the three teams currently in the relegation positions.
Alexandre Lacazette to score anytime @ 6/4
The former Arsenal man is back amongst the goals for his current side, after a difficult start to the season.
His equaliser against Montpellier on Sunday made it nine in his last 10 games, taking his tally to 12 for the campaign, across all competitions.
I think Lacazette could be the man to make the difference on Friday night, as Nice don’t possess a goalscorer close to the Frenchman’s standard.
