There are two race meetings down for decision in Britain on Sunday as jumps action takes precedence with cards at Perth and Stratford following a busy Super Saturday on the Flat.

14:30 Stratford – Gentle Connections @ 7/2

GENTLE CONNECTIONS won four straight races in the spring and summer of 2022 for Dan Skelton but was out of her depth in the Grade 2 Persian War at Chepstow in October of that year. She hasn’t won since, but that might change in the 2m6½f handicap chase at Stratford.

The seven-year-old lost her way after that Chepstow outing, but shaped promisingly off a much-reduced mark after a 13-month layoff at Bangor last month, finding in-form winner Fancy Stuff too strong but catching the eye when staying on into second under tender handling.

That should have put her spot on for this assignment and she looks worth chancing to build on that promising reappearance.

14:45 Perth – Tessy Lad @ 13/8

TESSY LAD recorded a career-high Racing Post Rating of 83 on the Flat for Richard Hughes and has been found a decent opportunity to break his duck over fences at Perth for Sam England off a BHA chase mark of 88.

The son of Australia relished a switch to chasing after largely struggling over hurdles for this team, jumping nicely on his first start in that discipline when second at Market Rasen a week ago.

He reappears quickly off the same rating and this contest is probably weaker.

15:45 Perth – Dinons @ 11/2

DINONS defied a two-year absence to land a Hexham handicap hurdle on his stable debut for Brian Ellison and can double up in the 3m handicap chase at Perth.

This horse was smart a few seasons ago, and was sent off a 9-1 chance for the 2019 Albert Bartlett for Gordon Elliott, but has made the track only six times over the last four years.

However, it looks significant that his connections are persevering with him as an 11-year-old considering his fragile profile, and he returned in rude health 31 days ago, making every yard despite failing to hurdle with much conviction at times.

Getting back over fences can see an improved performance from Dinons and Ellison can get another victory out of him.

16:00 Stratford – Doctor Parnassus @ 3/1

The Skelton-trained DOCTOR PARNASSUS is also interesting on his return from a break in the 2m2f handicap hurdle at Stratford.

Doctor Parnassus has rejoined Skelton after 15 months in Ireland when he ran a couple of decent races on the Flat for Richard O’Brien.

The selection was seventh behind Vauban in the 2022 Triumph Hurdle and is chucked in off a mark of 112 if recapturing any of the spark of those days. Skelton is worth trusting to turn him out in decent shape.

He managed to score impressively on his previous stable debut for Skelton following a similar time off the track in 2022 and is backed to follow suit.
