Lucky 15 Tips: Thursday was Murphy day – same again Friday?
It’s Day Two of Newmarket’s July meeting, so we’re headed there of course for Friday’s Lucky 15 tips. Seven tip-top contests, with the first due off at 13:50. Today’s prices offer hopefully a bit of value so I’m playing each-way.
Two Group races, with the Falmouth the highlight for me at 15:35. It’s a fantastic day’s racing full stop, with the likes of York, Ascot and Chester also on the menu. If you’re playing have fun, take care, and above all else – enjoy.
Lucky 15 Tips Friday
Newmarket
13:50 – Involvement @ 5/1
Oisin Murphy, jockey-of-the-moment yesterday, rides this one for the Crisfords.
Involvement ran well in the Britannia at Royal Ascot but the race before, at Haydock, seemed to appreciate the softer terrain he’s likely to get today, losing out in this grade by just 1.5l.
The progressive three-year-old can help maintain Murphy’s cracking run on Friday.
14:25 – Mighty Eriu @ 11/2
A raider from Gavin Cromwell’s Navan yard, with Oisin once again in the plate.
The two-year-old filly was a running-on second in the Queen Mary, and sire Inns Of Court didn’t mind some cut in the ground. Big chance here for Mighty Eriu.
15:00 – Fairbanks @ 4/1
Well, would you credit it – it’s that man again, this time for long-time ‘partner’ Andrew Balding.
Fairbanks is trying this 1m 6f trip for the first time and it looks well worth a shot. The four-year-old is the winner of four of his 10 starts, and holds an Ebor entry in next month’s big Festival at York.
16:45 – Gisburn @ 8/1
Time now for a five-year-old Ribchester gelding, trained by Richard Hannon. Will Buick is the man on top.
Gisburn has looked in the grip of the handicapper courtesy of several consistent displays, but has been dropped a total of 5lb since the start of the year and now tries 7f after looking to be crying out for a step up.
Soft ground would look to be no problem potentially and this is just the type to have a little separate each-way tickle on, too.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £810 for your total £7.50 stake.
