Lucky 15 Tips: Plenty of chances for on-song Billy
Rattling good racing is the order of the day on Wednesday, August 7, and I’m going for a cracking six-race card at Brighton in search of lively Lucky 15 tips.
First race is at 14:25, and the mighty Billy Loughnane has an enviable dance card full of huge chances. Here we go dear reader …
Lucky 15 Tips Wednesday
Brighton
14:25 -Wrestling Revenue @ 11/4
Claimer Jack Doughty (5) rides this three-year-old Mehmas gelding for Worcestershire trainer Tony Carroll.
Wrestling Revenue won here in June, same trip/grade/likely going, and is only 2lb higher here. Rival Night On Earth is surely now in the grip of the handicapper, and after a below-par spin at Lingers after Brighton (bare minimum 5f), Wrestling Revenue can resume winning ways at a track that evidently suits very nicely – plus there’s an extra half-furlong to play with.
He’s raised in grade but this looks a weak Class 4 to me.
14:55 – Batal Dandy @ 2/1
Another 5lb claimer to the fore, Brandon Wilkie, for shrewd trainer Stuart Williams.
Batal Dandy is a three-year-old Dandy Man gelding who’s become a bit disappointing to be fair – and has just in recent days left Richard Fahey for the Williams yard in Newmarket.
New owner, too. Hard to imagine in such a short space of time that Stuart will have found the key to him but you never know.
This is a very ordinary yet fascinating little heat and any repeat of the winning form shown by the selection at Wetherby in June, admittedly a bit of a one-off, will see him bang there with a squeak.
16:25 – Chourmo @ 9/4
John Egan rides an in-form, four-year-old Postponed gelding for trainer Mark Gillard.
Chourmo is a course-and-distance scorer too, winning off this very same mark of 55 at the start of July. Eleven days ago he ran very well at Salisbury but met with interference – only going down by less that 3l.
He goes well here, is in form, and has no more to do than in that very comfortable July 2 success.
16:55 – On Song @ 3/1
Billy The Kid time, for one of his go-to trainers, George Boughey.
On Song is a three-year-old gelding dropping down a furlong from last time at Bath in May when he appeared, under this jockey, to perhaps not quite get home – though he did suffer interference, too.
7f here could be ideal for career-start number eight, and his tip-top trainer can be expected to find a winning opportunity for his charge at this lowly level sooner rather than later.
If you’re playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £200 for your total £7.50 stake.
