Lucky 15 Tips: I’m a believer
Oh we do like to be beside … plenty of winners and near-misses have characterised our visits to Yarmouth this week, and I’m unashamedly going to the coastal well once again on Thursday, September 19 for our Lucky 15 tips.
It’s occasionally been a case of picking the right Silvestre De Sousa horses – goodness me, he’s good – but Rossa Ryan, Ryan Moore and others have shone too. Yarmouth’s seven-race card kicks in at 14:20, and is once again graced by some of the finest jocks our sport has to offer. Our selections have each-way value appeal, so that’s exactly how I’m playing it.
Lucky 15 Tips, Thursday
Yarmouth
14:50 – Make Love @ 9/2
The brilliant Saffie Osborne rides for Newmarket trainer James Horton.
Make Love is a relatively experienced two-year-old in the context of this race, having her fourth career start. She’s run well at HQ in July and very respectably last month at Wolves.
There are plenty of possible improvers but she’s already achieved the kind of standard that could be good enough to take this, and her jockey, on board at Newmarket (beaten just 2l in a warm maiden), is a big plus for me.
15:50 – Redorange @ 3/1
Rossa Ryan rides for Clive Cox – a combo successful this week already.
Redorange is another two-year-old with ability, racing this afternoon for the fourth time. The Mehmas colt makes his handicap debut in this nursery off a mark of 79, and that doesn’t look too onerous.
He finished second 36 days ago in a novice at Salisbury, and will surely go very close on Thursday.
16:25 – The Good Biscuit @ 13/2
Tom Marquand rides this Sixties Icon three-year-old for Jack Channon, in what’s a decent Class 4 handicap.
The Good Biscuit has previously been playing in slightly higher company and is in the main a very consistent performer. Last time out in this grade he just failed to score at Ripon off 79, and is up a couple of pounds courtesy of the nasty old handicapper.
That was on soft ground and he’s been seen to especially good effect on faster, which he looks sure to get here. Big chance at a nice price.
17:35 – I Can’t Believe @ 15/2
I’m siding with the brilliant Rossa Ryan again (operating at around a 21% strike-rate in the last fortnight), this time for trainer Dave Evans.
I Can’t Believe is a three-year-old gelding who began life with the Gosdens before moving to Monmouthshire in August. He’s run ok in two starts for new connections, but has been hampered by starting slowly.
With Dave having had a little more time to work his magic, and a top pilot like Rossa booked, I’m hoping this modest contest on handicap bow off 67 can be taken in his stride.
If you’re playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £670 for your total £7.50 stake.
