Lucky 15 Tips: I want to be with you Everywhere

Lucky 15

Hello, dear reader. Big day today – I know there’s something going on but I just can’t recall what it is. It’ll come to me, no doubt. On the racing front meanwhile, there’s lots of mighty fine action to choose from for our Thursday July 4 Lucky 15 tips, and after a very decent weekend that included tipping up the Northumberland Plate winner we’re not doing too badly in recent days either – three from four on Tuesday for example wasn’t too shabby (13/8, 11/8, 13/8), with an 11/10 chance letting us down for the full house. The rascal.

There are some big-name jocks in attendance at Kempton for their seven-race evening meet, which kicks in at 17.15, and that will do nicely. As for that other event, still nothing coming but I can’t get an old David Bowie hit out of my mind. Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes … have a good one.

Today’s Horse Races

Lucky 15 tips Thursday

Kempton

  • 17:15 – Modern Utopia @ 9/4
  • 17:50 – Everywhere @ 10/3
  • 19:35 – Cracksking @5/4
  • 20:45 – Al Ameen @ 7/2

Horse Racing Odds

17:15 – Modern Utopia @ 9/4

Newmarket handler George Scott trains this once-raced two-year-old filly by Arc winner Sottsass.

Modern Utopia journeyed all the way to Carlisle for her debut and was a staying-on fourth over today’s trip of 7f, beaten 2.5l. The Johnston-trained winner has subsequently run down the field in the Chesham at the Royal meeting, but the third ran ok in a Ffos Las novice, going down by half a length.

Nothing stunning about the form then, but there was undoubted promise shown – and what seems to be her main market rival Jakarta carries a penalty for winning at Goodwood over a furlong shorter. She’s by top miler Night Of Thunder so the step up should suit; but 7lb is a big chunk to concede.

Here’s hoping the excellent Callum Shephard can get a lovely tune out of Scott’s chestnut juvenile.

17:50 – Everywhere @ 10/3

Another filly with affiliations to Flaxman Stables – see above – but this time a three-year-old by the mighty Galileo, trained by the living legend Sir Michael Stoute.

Everywhere didn’t run at two and has had a couple of career starts to date, progressing nicely in maidens at Chelmsford and latterly Lingfield. She was beaten less than 4l last time and showed clearly she stays this kind of middle-distance trip.

She doesn’t have any fancy entries but the penny will surely drop sooner rather than later. Richard Kingscote is in the plate.

19:35 – Cracksking @ 5/4

Familiar Harris family colours here to those of us of a certain vintage, and businessman and former trainer Peter’s daughter, Alison, is listed as joint-owner of this beautifully-bred Frankel gelding out of a Pivotal mare.

She is the widow of the late, spectacularly gifted jockey Walter Swinburn, of Shergar fame, who rode many winners for Peter in these green, yellow and red silks.

Cracksking took a similar contest 29 days ago over course and distance, and as a consequence has been raised 5lb. Tom Marquand was on board, and remains so tonight. Last time was a big personal best, and after being gelded in March he’s really thriving on the course. Big chance of following up.

20:45 – Al Ameen @ 7/2

Tom Marquand again – never any hardship to have him doing the steering – and a five-year-old handicapper trained by James Fanshawe at Newmarket.

This one has generally been paddling in deeper waters of late and has slipped to a tempting-looking mark of 69. Al Ameen is another course-and-distance scorer and is boxed nicely in stall three.

In October last he took a similar heat here off 72, and he looks poised to me to run a big one.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £200 for your total £7.50 stake.
