Lucky 15 Tips: Head Waiter Fanning can excel

Fine entertainment is to be had courtesy of Thursday’s racing programme, both in the UK and over in Ireland. The Killarney Festival for example continues, but it’s to a track I’ve yet to visit that I’m entrusting with providing our Lucky 15 tips.

Hamilton Park looks like somewhere I should get to know better one day and an attractive six-race card kicks in at 14:20. Let’s see if we can recapture some of last week’s form that’s rather deserted us so far in recent days. Swings and roundabouts – exactly how it should be.

14:20 – Lady Luzon @ 5/4

Our selection is a thrice-raced two-year-old Pinatubo filly who is progressing very nicely so far in maiden and novice company.

Last time at Redcar 26 days ago she finished with purpose despite enduring difficulties in the run, finishing a one-length second to a horse that has subsequently followed-up by scoring at Nottingham.

Danny Tudhope rides for David O’Meara on Lady Luzon’s nursery handicap debut, and rates nap material for me.

15:55 – Moonspirit @ 9/4

A four-year-old filly now, in the care of the excellent George Boughey.

Moonspirit is a Kingman offspring and has recorded four career successes to date. She runs today off 86, having won at Beverley 12 days ago off 2lb pounds lower.

5lb claimer Tommie Jakes was on board last time and the partnership remains intact on Thursday. She’s evidently in great heart and can go in again.

16:25 – Missterious @ 7/2

Kevin Ryan trains this three-year-old Dream Ahead filly, and on her sixth career start has a new jockey – the evergreen Joe Fanning.

Missterious tried to make all at this track 16 days ago and was denied by just a neck. Could it be that Fanning, one of the very best pilots of modern times from the front, has been engaged to adopt similar tactics I wonder?

She’s been raised a pound for that fine run and it would be no surprise whatsoever should compensation await.

16:55 – Change Of Fortune @ 5/1

Trainer Bernard Llewellyn makes the long journey from Caerphilly with his five-year-old Cityscape gelding.

Change Of Fortune has been dropping in the handicap steadily (55 today – as high as 65 last summer), and his turn looked close at hand when losing out by just a length at Ffos Las 8 days ago, running on stoutly.

His mark remains unchanged and though this is a very modest heat the outstanding Connor Beasley has been booked, and connections will be hoping for a massive run.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £265 for your total £7.50 stake.
