Lucky 15 Tips: Four tracks, four selections, big chances
A quartet of British meetings make up Monday’s racing schedule, with action on the Flat from Catterick, Yarmouth and Windsor joined by the jumps meeting at Worcester on a day with 24 races to be contested.
We’ve selected a Lucky 15 from across Monday’s cards and you can read the theory behind the selections below, including one for Nicky Henderson at a track where he boasts a fine record.
Lucky 15 Tips Monday
14:45 Catterick – Go On Rosie @ 3/1
Nigel Tinkler’s filly GO ON ROSIE looks to be on the upgrade after two improved efforts recently. The daughter of Dandy Man was well held in maiden/novice company in four runs before shaping with some promise in a Class 4 event at York last month on her nursery bow.
Eased in grade, she was second-best at Musselburgh on her next appearance and then won very easily at Beverley (5f, good to firm) four days ago. She had any amount in hand in that contest and connections are seeking to go again quickly under a 6lb penalty.
If she turns up here in the same mood there should be more success pending in the hands of Rowan Scott.
15:30 Worcester – Azaris @ 5/2
Nicky Henderson doesn’t tend to have a lot of runners at Worcester but when the Seven Barrows supremo does turn up, it’s usually worth noting.
The Henderson team boasts a 27 percent strike-rate (19-70) at this venue in the last five seasons, with a level stakes profit of 3.89.
They have just one runner on today’s card, with stable jockey Nico de Boinville in town to partner AZARIS in the 2m bumper.
The Panis gelding is a brother to a useful winner up to 1m on the Flat and he’s worth siding with on debut, with June’s Newton Abbot winner Alan De Banks conceding him 7lb.
17:40 Yarmouth – Back In Black @ 11/10
James Fanshawe will be feeling confident that it can be third time lucky for BACK IN BLACK in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Yarmouth over 7f.
The Dandy Man colt was second-best over 6f (good to soft) on debut here in May and filled the same berth at Ascot (6f, good to firm) last month on his only start since.
That was a valuable Class 2 maiden and Daniel Muscutt’s partner drew clear with the Richard Hannon-trained winner Our Terms. That effort sets the bar for this contest and he may not need to improve to open his account.
18:55 Windsor – Tremblant @ 8/1
Amy Murphy’s TREMBLANT has yet to win on turf (0-10) but the gelding was second at Haydock over this trip in June and a solid enough fifth over this C&D last month, ensuring two of his last three starts have been promising.
He had a wide trip last time and that probably didn’t help Tom Marquand’s partner. The ex-Andre Fabre inmate was rated 87 on his first UK start and is now on a career-low mark of 72. Granted a better passage through this time around, he could be up to the challenge.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £340 for your total £7.50 stake.
