Lucky 15 Tips: Four picks for Monday’s action

There’s plenty of action to kick off the week on Monday with five cards including four in Britain and a jumps card at Galway in Ireland.

Here, we have selections for the Flat action from Brighton and Wolverhampton as well as a pick from across the Irish Sea. Among the selections for Monday’ Lucky 15 tips is a last-time-out winner who looks capable of defying a penalty and an each-way selection at value odds.

14:20 Brighton – Hellavapace @ 6/5

Having gained a first turf success over this course and distance last week, Hellavapace looks capable of following up.

This doesn’t look like the strongest event around with just five rivals to cope with and this mare arrives in better form than most. That can also be said of her jockey and trainer, who have both been banging in the winners of late and Olivia Tubb has looked like good value for the 5lb she can still claim in races confined to apprentices.

Course and distance form often comes to the fore at this venue and the Jonathan Portman runner may be able to go back-to-back with just a 5lb penalty to cope with.

15:55 Galway – Mephisto @ 9/1

Mephisto was having his first run over hurdles for nearly a year when filling the runner-up spot at Sligo last time and this well-handicapped six-year-old could be hard to beat if he finds any improvement for that return to timber.

He showed he handles these sort of conditions at Sligo and the stiff nature of the track should really help bring his stamina into play. He should go well with the talented Jack Kearney claiming 5lb.

19:00 Wolverhampton – Capuchinero @ 10/1

Capuchinero hasn’t really fulfilled the promise she showed earlier in her career in Ireland for Joseph O’Brien but the mare went close to gaining a fourth all-weather win over this course and distance last month and she looks well treated from just 1lb higher on her return here.

Most of her best form has come on an artificial surface and while she can be slowly out of the stalls, which isn’t ideal at this venue, she might get away with it in this small seven-runner field.

19:30 Wolverhampton – Takes Time @ 10/1

Silvestre De Sousa rides most tracks well and that’s certainly the case at Wolverhampton, where he seems to have the knack of being in the right position.

He takes the ride on an intriguing runner on Monday in the form of Take Time who is likely to be a big price. However, there are a couple of reasons to think that this filly might outrun her odds.

A drop back in trip could help her settle after she pulled hard at Nottingham last time in first-time blinkers (retained here) and her best effort to date came over just short of a mile when hitting the crossbar at Haydock, so it’s possible that she has been running over the wrong distances since.

The booking of De Sousa is eye-catching and there’s a good chance she’ll be aggressively ridden from her low draw (three).
