Lucky 15 Tips: 6/1 chance heads our Thursday chances
Bags of good racing on Thursday across the UK and Ireland, and amongst the best is a six-race card at Sandown which kicks in at 14:10.
More than happy then to journey to Esher for our Lucky 15 tips, July 25. Eyes down …
Lucky 15 Tips Thursday
Sandown
14:10 – Connie’s Rose @ 6/1
We start with a Class 4 sprint handicap, and a selection in the form of her life.
Five-year-old mare Connie’s Rose is flying right now for trainer Grace Harris, and interestingly seems as deadly at this minimum 5f trip as she is at six.
She runs off a mark of 74 today, and is up in grade. But in terms of her mark she’s ‘only’ running off 2lb higher than for that last win, and given her front-running style this stiff five might suit today better than the 6f of that Leicester success 19 days ago.
She hasn’t been out of the first three in her last seven outings, and that’s included two wins and four seconds! Callum Hutchinson, who knows the mare well, takes off a valuable 3lb and she’s getting weight from her likely rivals towards the top of the market.
She can make all for me.
15:50 – My Dream World @ 9/2
Newmarket handler Ben Brookhouse trains, and Jack Gilligan is in the saddle.
Just three career starts to date for this three-year-old colt, owned by his trainer, and after comfortably taking a Haydock maiden 33 days ago this is where connections have decided he should make his handicap debut.
My Dream World has been given a mark of 82, and for me it’s very interesting they’ve plumped to take on notably a couple of Charlie Appleby runners, and one each from Michael Bell and Andrew Balding.
That Haydock win was cosy, and you don’t win there without really getting home. It’s a tough, demanding old straight. He’s up a couple of furlongs in trip now (1m 6f), but only the Bell conveyance has tried it (won, narrowly).
I’m hoping this brave move by the owner/trainer can pay off and all that Haydock resolution and ability can be seen to great effect up the Sandown hill.
16:20 – Siempre Arturo @ 5/4
Daniel & Claire Kubler send this one from their Lambourn base, and the prolific Will Buick is in the plate.
Class 4, 10f handicap – and the four-year-old gelding arrives chasing a four-timer that started by winning off a mark of 73. He’s up 12 spots from that now, to 85, but this is purple-patch, career-best stuff; and the handicapper might not have collared him yet.
Siempre Arturo gets Buick for the first time – there aren’t many better.
16:55 – Laura Bay @ 7/2
Another 10f handicap, for fillies now, and a raider from David Menuisier’s Pulborough yard in West Sussex.
Laura Bay wasn’t at her best last time but that was over 12f on fast ground at Newbury. The time before, at this trip, she took one of these at the same venue off a mark of 68, and is just 3lb higher today.
A repeat of that for me puts her bang in the mix regarding this one, and the cultured Benoit De La Sayette will be doing the steering for a trainer that excels with middle-distance types.
If you’re playing take care, and as always, have fun.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £464 for your total £7.50 stake.
