Cardinals Entering New Era
Louisville enters this Friday night college football game beginning a new era under head coach Jeff Brohm. The ex-Purdue coach takes over for Scott Satterfield, who won just 51% of his games in four seasons at Louisville.
Brohm won 51% of his games in six seasons at Purdue and won 19 games over the last three years. His biggest challenge might be replacing the production of dynamic quarterback Malik Cunningham, who was the team’s most dangerous rusher in 2022.
While Cunningham is now playing on Sundays in the big leagues, the Cardinals do return their leading rusher in Jawhar Jordan, who averaged 5.7 yards per carry with 815 yards last season. The offensive line is also solid with all-stars Bryan Hudson at center and Renato Brown at tackle.
Where it might get interesting for Louisville is on the defensive side of the ball, as Purdue defensive coordinator Ron English comes in to take on the same role with the Cardinals. The Boilermakers were 10th in Big Ten total defense last season and failed to get pressure on the quarterback.
Yellow Jackets Aim to Build Off 2022 Finish
Georgia enters this college football Week 1 clash following a decent conclusion to a disappointing 2022 season. Even though the Yellow Jackets went 5-7 overall last season, they finished with a 4-4 record in their final eight games, including wins over North Carolina and Pittsburgh.
The Yellow Jackets had the worst passing offense in the ACC last season and scored more than 16 points just five times. There’s a chance for notable improvement with former top recruit Hayne Kings transferring in from Texas A&M, plus WR Dominick Blaylock arriving from Georgia.
🚨BREAKING: Georgia Tech has named Texas A&M transfer QB Haynes King the starter for the 2023 season.

Georgia Tech returns four starters from the offensive line, which will be big for returning top running back Dontae Smith. During the 2022 campaign, the four-year veteran rushed the ball 87 times for 420 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, the Yellow Jackets are still a work in progress. They had one of the worst rushing defenses last season and must overcome the loss of top pass rusher Keion White to the NFL. Look for transfers Braelen Oliver (Minnesota) and Andre White (Texas A&M) to step up in a big way on the defensive line.
Louisville vs Georgia Tech Prediction
When it comes to our prediction for Louisville vs Georgia Tech Friday Night College Football, there are indicators pointing to both sides. GA Tech has a 2-0 record against Louisville, and they are 5-1 against the spread as an underdog under their new coach. But Louisville is 8-5 ATS as a favorite since 2021.
Continuity is always key in the early goings of the college football season, and that’s why we lean Louisville to cover on Friday night. The Cardinals are bringing in veteran quarterback Jack Plummer, who actually spent time under new Cardinals coach Jeff Brohm at Purdue.
GA Tech only averaged 17 points per game in 2022, and we don’t project them being able to find success against a solid Louisville defense returning plenty of experience and talent. Take the Cardinals to win a lower-scoring game Friday night in Atlanta.
