Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers Predictions & Best Odds for TNF (Dec. 12)

  • By Admin
  • The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers meet on Thursday Night Football in a must-win game for both teams
  • Mathematically alive in the playoff race, both are plus-money underdogs to crack the postseason field
  • Below, see the Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers predictions and best available odds for TNF on Dec. 12

Fans will be treated to a de facto win-or-go-home game on Thursday Night Football in Week 15 when the San Francisco 49ers (6-7, ATS) host the Los Angeles Rams (7-6, ATS) at Levi’s Stadium at 8:20 pm ET. The latest NFL playoff odds list the Rams at +150 (40% implied probability) to make the postseason and the Niners as +1000 longshots (9.1%) as they try to track down the division-leading Seahawks (8-5) or the final Wild Card, held by the Commanders (8-5). Both teams, especially San Fran, could end up missing ever with a win tonight, but both need a victory to have any realistic hope of cracking the 14-team NFL playoff bracket.

I have been all over the 49ers since the Week 15 odds opened on Sunday night. I saw enough from San Francisco’s 38-13 thrashing of the Bears in Week 14 to have confidence that (a) this team hasn’t quit on the season and (b) the injury-riddled roster still has enough firepower to contend.

The 49ers have largely owned the Rams in recent history, as well. Los Angeles took a narrow 27-24 victory at home in Week 3 of this season, but that was a game the 49ers all but handed to LA on a silver platter. San Francisco led by seven with just 2:47 remaining in the game with the ball on the LA 37-yard line. But a missed 55-yard field goal set in motion an unlikely sequence of events that culminated with LA hitting a last-second field goal for the win.

San Francisco dominated the first meeting for the better part of 58 minutes. The Niners dwarfed the Rams in total yards (425 to 296) and time of possession (33:27 to 26:33).

Prior to that Week 3 meeting (and excluding Week 18 last year when the 49ers were resting all their important starters), San Francisco had won nine in a row against their NFC West rivals from Los Angeles.

Yes, the Niners are still dealing with a lot of injuries to key contributors but their injury situation is not nearly as dire now as it was a few weeks ago. Nick Bosa, Isaac Guerendo, Dre Greenlaw, and Khalil Davis are all listed as questionable, but all four got in limited practices on Wednesday and are trending towards playing.

There isn’t universal agreement in the SBD offices about how this game is going to end, but my colleagues, like myself, are expecting points. Ian Jones’ Rams vs 49ers same-game parlay includes both Brock Purdy going over 250 yards (-120) and a George Kittel anytime TD (+160). Meanwhile, Eric Rosales’ Rams vs 49ers player props are targeting Jennings over 5.5 receptions at a juicy +115 price in Thursday’s NFL betting odds.

Best Available Rams vs  49ers Best Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Los Angeles Rams +3.0 (-120) at ESPN Bet +126 at Caesars Over 48.5 (-110) at bet365
San Francisco 49ers -2.5 (-115) at BetMGM -142 at DraftKings Under 49.0 (-115) at BetMGM

After opening at San Francisco -2.5 last Sunday night, the Rams vs 49ers spread is as high as -3.0 at ESPN Bet, which represents the best option for anyone wanting to back the Rams ATS. The best option for 49ers ATS backers is -2.5 (-115) at BetMGM.

Caesars currently has the longest odds on the Rams moneyline at +126 while DraftKings has the best price on a Niners’ victory at -142.

The game total, which opened at just 47.5, was bet all the way up to 49.5 early in the week but has since come back down a point to 48.5 at most sportsbooks. The outlier is BetMGM, which still has the over/under at 49.0.

The NFL public betting percentages are all over the Rams on TNF. Los Angeles is getting 75% of moneyline handle and 62% of ATS handle as of 1:30 pm ET. The public also likes the over, with 67% of game-total money on the over.
