Lingfield is one of five meetings across the UK and Ireland on Monday, with seven races scheduled at the track in Surrey.

Sir Mark Prescott’s BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS made a winning return to action last week, victorious on handicap debut by three lengths. The three-year-old was gelded in October, and that seems to have done the trick.

Blindedbythelights’ win last week at Yarmouth was arguably at a better level than Monday’s contest at Lingfield, and he is difficult to oppose, even under a penalty. Prescott’s runner still has more to find, and it will be tough to stop the son of Protectionist from winning once again.

While Blindedbythelights has endured a slow start to the flat season, the exact opposite can be said of OBAMA ARMY.

Jack Channon’s runner has been out on the track on no fewer than five occasions since the start of April and, most importantly, has looked good throughout those runs.

Channon’s stable star has yet to finish outside the top four but has also finished second on three occasions. His only win came at Bath in May, but the signs are good ahead of Monday’s contest.

Obama Arm has only been handed a 1lb rise for his latest second-place finish at Carlisle, and that should give him the advantage at Lingfield.

16:00 – Imperial Dream @ 11/8

Prescott’s team will be busy on Monday at Lingfield, but they could be celebrating another victory at 16:00 as IMPERIAL DREAM returns to the track for the first time since September.

Imperial Dream showed some decent form last year, finishing fourth in successive races before then securing second at Chelmsford in September. Connections decided to geld him, and he has not been since, but Prescott and his team have clearly bided their time on purpose.

They will hope for a busy few weeks, and if he improves as expected, he should have too much quality for the rest of the field.
