Lingfield Park Racecourse

With four British and Irish meetings taking place across Wednesday there’s lots of racing action to cater for all tastes. Amongst it is an all-weather Flat card from Lingfield, where they have eight races on the schedule from 14:05-17:50.

We’ve picked out a trio to follow at the Surrey venue, including Mick Appleby’s Honour Your Dreams, who showed blistering speed at Bath when winning there last week and can follow up.

Lingfield Park Tips, Wednesday

  • 14:05 Lingfield – Honour Your Dreams @ 5/2
  • 15:40 Lingfield – Darn Hot Mystery @ 7/1
  • 16:15 Lingfield – This Time Maybe @ 18/1

Today’s Horse Races

14:05 Lingfield – Honour Your Dreams @ 5/2

Opening the card is a competitive 6f handicap and it’s a good opportunity for HONOUR YOUR DREAMS to follow up his recent 5f Bath success for trainer Mick Appleby with Frederick Larson in the plate.

Having his first start for Appleby since leaving Adrian Keatley’s stable, the four-year-old was fast away at Bath last week and made every post a winning one, seeing off six rivals in the process.

This is going to be tougher up 5lb in the weights, but he’s clearly in rude health and he finished second off this mark on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last December so his mark isn’t outrageously high at all.

The sharp nature of this track will suit the way he runs and the step up to 6f won’t be a hindrance.

15:40 Lingfield – Darn Hot Mystery @ 7/1

On to the 7f maiden fillies’ stakes next, where George Boughey’s Sixteen One is likely to go off a warm order off the back of her narrow defeat at Leicester when sent off favourite on debut in July.

However, the fact she was really fancied that day and didn’t deliver might make her vulnerable to the likes of Henry Candy’s DARN HOT MYSTERY, who was also a big eyecatcher on her debut.

Sent off odds of 25/1 for a 7f Kempton fillies’ maiden first time up last month, she was given a positive ride and finished third of 14. She can be expected to improve massively on that effort here and, if she can get away lively, she might get it soft on the front end.

16:15 Lingfield – This Time Maybe @ 18/1

Likely to be a big price in the 1m handicap, a chance is taken on Mark Usher’s THIS TIME MAYBE, who should at least find this level of company a bit softer than what he has faced to date.

Second in a good Windsor novice when trained by Richard Hannon last year, the son of Time Test has only had two starts for his new yard, disappointing here in August before running a much better race last time at Salisbury.

He was behind most of the way last time but ran on well to the line to be beaten just shy of five lengths and the handicapper has dropped him a further 4lb here as he takes a further ease in class.
