It’s another underwhelming matchup for the Week 15 TNF game, as the Las Vegas Raiders (5-8, 6-5-2 ATS) play host to the Los Angeles Chargers (5-8, 4-8-1 ATS).
Both of these teams were entertaining playoff hopes entering the season, but those were deflated weeks ago. The Raiders underwent a coaching change from Josh McDaniels to Antonio Pierce and, this week, the Chargers are undergoing a quarterback change.
QB1 Justin Herbert (finger surgery) is out for the season, meaning that Easton Stick will get the first start of his NFL career for LA. No doubt that’s playing a role in the betting line for this game. The Raiders are 3-point home favorites.

Public Bettors Not Loving Raiders
Despite going against a backup QB, the Raiders aren’t being warmly embraced in the latest NFL public betting splits for this game. Las Vegas is getting 67% of spread handle, but just 52% of moneyline handle. The Raiders are 2-4 straight up and against the spread in the last six games against the Chargers.
Astonishingly, looking at how impotent these two offenses have been recently, it’s the over that public bettors are smashing in total wagering. Four of the last five games between these two teams have gone under.
In the odds to win Super Bowl, Pittsburgh is the co-15th betting choice with a line of +9500. The Steelers are at a betting line of +800 to win the AFC North in the NFL divisional odds.
Are Chargers Getting Short End of Stick?
Taking over after Herbert fractured his finger in last week’s 24-7 loss at Denver, Stick was 13-of-24 for 179 yards, a 54.2% completion rate. He didn’t throw a TD pass, but also wasn’t picked off. Stick’s average yards per attempt was a pedestrian 7.5. His passer rating was 78.3 and his QBR 37.5.
Easton Stick is expected to make his first NFL start on Thursday night in Las Vegas, joining Cordell Volson, Dillon Radunz, Cody Mauch, Nash Jensen & Christian Watson as #𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 who have regular starting roles in the NFL this season.https://t.co/H7lBGiWonW

In four seasons on the Chargers roster, Stick has appeared in two games. Prior to last week, Stick took two snaps in a 2020 game against Jacksonville, throwing one pass. It was a four-yard completion. This will be his first starting assignment at any level of football since January 5, 2019, when Stick led North Dakota State to victory over Eastern Washington.
Who’s at QB for Raiders?
At least the Chargers know who’s going to be under center on Thursday. Raiders coach Pierce is currently noncommittal on his starting QB.
Will he be sticking with Aidan O’Connell? Is he going back to Jimmy Garoppolo? Might he give Brian Hoyer a shot? Pierce says the situation is under evaluation.
#Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said he has not decided who will start at QB on Thursday night vs. the Chargers.

That doesn’t mean there’s going to be a change, he insists. However, coming off an embarrassing 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings during which the Raiders accumulated 202 yards in total offense, a change just might do them good. It certainly couldn’t make things any worse.
Neither QB is exactly embracing the opportunity to be the man. Garoppolo has thrown seven TD passes against nine interceptions. There’s a 4:7 TD-to-INT ratio on O’Connell’s stat sheet.
Chargers vs Raiders Prediction
The Chargers have scored 13 points in their last two games and amazingly, are 1-1 SU. In Vegas, the scoring line for the Raiders over the past four games – 16, 13, 17 and zero. They’ve gone over 20 points twice in 13 games this season. Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (knee), the reigning NFL rushing champion, may also miss this game.
What we’re trying to say here folks, is that you should bet the under.
Chargers vs Raiders Picks: Under 34.5 points (-115)
TNF Record: 8-6-0
