Jaguars vs 49ers Prediction: Jags can add to Niners misery

The 6pm televised NFL game on Sunday is from Everbank Stadium, where the Jacksonville Jaguars host the San Francisco 49ers. We’ve asked @NFLGirlUK to preview this one and she’s given us here thoughts.

Jaguars vs 49ers Betting Tips

  • Back Jacksonville Jaguars to win – 7/5
  • Back Both teams to score a Touchdown @ 27/20

Looking at this matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, we are going to be getting a test to see what these squads are made of. The 49ers are touted as Super Bowl contenders but have lost three games straight. Meanwhile, the Jaguars continue to build upon a slow start and are separating themselves from the rest of their division.

Starting with the 49ers in this preview, they are loaded with talent top to bottom. However, they’ve lost three straight, thanks to a number of injuries and poor quarterback play from Brock Purdy. Purdy hasn’t been terrible by any means, though the loss of both Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel lately have hurt him.

Williams is a motivating leader at the tackle position, and he’s somebody that everybody has unwavering confidence in. Samuel is an explosive playmaker that Purdy quickly developed chemistry with. Both of these guys not being on the field hurts them more than it seems. While Deebo is returning here, Williams is still questionable to make an appearance.

This isn’t the only good news for San Francisco fans though. At the trade deadline last week, the team went out and snagged standout pass rusher Chase Young from the Washington Commanders. Young is a former Rookie of the Year winner and great edge rusher before injuries hounded him the past few years. Teaming him up with Nick Bosa feels like a perfect situation for this defensive line to shine. This’ll be his first game with the team.

Flipping over to the Jaguars, they’re an interesting bunch. They started out with a 1-2 record but have since won six straight games against a few tough opponents. Among those defeated teams are the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In fact, none of those games were won at home either, making it that much more impressive.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been shining under center and the weapons around him make his job ten times easier. Having Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Travis Etienne has turned this offense into an explosive one. Their defense might not pop off the page at you on paper, but they are a very talented bunch that’s playing better and better as the season progresses. Even if you focus on their losses, you can say that they just played a few really talented offensive teams.

The first loss was a 17-9 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the second was a 37-17 blowout defeat at the hands of CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans. It feels like Jacksonville is continually being slept on this season, and maybe that’s exactly how they want it to be.

Still, this is a group that wants to let the world know that they can win a Super Bowl this season. The first step moving forward is beating a stout 49ers team at home in front of their own fans. It’s hard to find a better opportunity than this.

Team News

The 49ers have all-pro left tackle Trent Williams back and involved in practice this week but there is bad news on the defensive front, with Javon Hargreave suffering a knee injury.

Meanwhile, the Jags had their full roster on the field on Thursday for the first time this season. Five players were limited including WR Zay Jones.

Match Odds

This is going to be a fun one as the 49ers are considered pretty big favourites, which is a touch surprising considering they have lost three straight and the hometown Jags are have won five-on-the-spin. However the Betfred traders have it priced up as the Jags at 7/5 with San Fran coming into Florida and getting the W a 4/7 shot.

The line has been set as Jacksonville getting 3.5 on the handicap. Points are not on the cards as the over/under is 44.5.

Bet 1 – Jacksonville Jaguars to win @ 7/5

I’ve said it is hard to find a better opportunity than this to show the watching NFL world that they are serious contenders, so I pretty much have to back them at odds against don’t I?

The Jags have won five straight and this is the chance for a real statement game. This is going to be a struggle as San Fran have real talent all over the field but give me Jacksonville is a low-scorer.

Bet 2 – Both teams to score a Rushing Touchdown @ 27/20

Christian McCaffrey has scored in every game bar one this season and is just 1/2 to find the end zone on Sunday. It is a pretty safe bet that he’ll do so. This means we have to workout the chances that Travis Etienne will join him.

Last week, the Jags #1 Running Back drew a blank on the ground at Pittsburgh. Not ideal. Yet in his previous three games, the former Clemson Tiger ran it in six-times in that span. At decent odds-against, this is a value play.
