Introducing the Eberhard & Co. Tazio Nuvolari 130th Anniversary Collection

Celebrating the life and achievements of an Italian racing legend with a beautiful motorsport-inspired two-register chronograph.

Tazio Nuvolari was born in 1892 in Mantua, Italy, a place that is still strongly connected to his legacy to this day. He soon began to show his undeniable talent behind the wheel of the most brutal, challenging and beautiful Italian racing cars of the early 20th Century, pushing the limits of endurance to achieve excellence. Known as ‘Il Mantovano Volante’ (The Flying Mantuan), Nuvolari won 72 major races, including 24 Grand Prix, 2 Mille Miglias, 2 Targa Florios, and a Le Mans 24-hour race – all while wearing his signature monogrammed yellow jersey and golden tortoise lucky charm.

Two symbols which embellish the newly released pieces of Eberhard & Co.’s Tazio Nuvolari collection have been created to celebrate both his 130th birthday and the 90th anniversary of his ‘Golden Year’. During this said year, Nuvolari won the Grand Prix behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo P3 and was gifted his golden tortoise by famous writer Gabriele D’Annunzio, inscribed with “to the fastest man, the slowest animal”.

These new pieces are in essence four slight variations on one singularly beautiful watch: a 41mm stainless steel automatic chronograph with rectangular pushers, an incredibly handsome twin register dial with a special ‘frappé’ helical finish, embossed tortoise shaped motif framing the initials of the champion and luminous arabic numerals, and a luxurious vintage grey leather strap with yellow stitching.

Available with white or black chronograph subdials, the new Tazio Nuvolari presents some fine details. Firstly, a closed caseback with engine-turned finish found on reference 31075, and a display caseback with gold inlaid engravings and customised automatic rotor featuring a reproduction of the historic Alfa Romeo Type C 18kt gold found on the reference 31076. The latter being one of two pieces in the ‘Gold Car Collection’.

All variants of this Tazio Nuvolari edition are powered by a Valjoux 7750 Swiss made automatic movement, feature an engine turned finish on their bezels, are water resistant to 50m, are fitted with steel or white baton shaped lume filled hour and minute hands, and a yellow tipped sweep second hand.

Available to buy now from Montredo, the Eberhard & Co. Tazio Nuvolari 130th Anniversary collection is priced at €3,450 for the 31075 CP model, and €4,350 for the 31076 CP model.
