Finfellas 2023 was an incredible opportunity for us to connect with our investors and other industry leaders. If you missed it, here’s a quick recap of the event.
Keynote highlights
At his keynote, CEO and co-founder Martins Sulte spoke about regulation and trust in regard to Mintos. He also talked about where Mintos is now, and where we will be in the future.
Sulte started off by talking about financial regulation, and how it continues to evolve in order to protect investors. Currently, Mintos is under a well-established regulatory framework, MiFID. MiFID is the cornerstone of financial service licenses in Europe. Regulation like MiFID helps protect investors and levels the playing field, so investors can make well-educated decisions.
MiFID protects investors by setting requirements for:
- Safeguarding investor assets
- Higher transparency
- Compensating investors when investment firms fail to return their assets
- Ensuring products are suitable for investors with the Suitability and Appropriateness assessment
- Transparent, investor-friendly information
- Verifying client identities with KYC and preventing illegal activity with AML
In general, regulated companies, particularly companies regulated by MiFID, come with more investor trust. We’ve built our platform around transparency and education, and we welcome regulation, which builds trust and enables investors to understand and manage risk.
Sulte ended his keynote by talking about the future of Mintos and the importance of portfolio diversification. We aim to build well-diversified assets for our investors. We’ll continue offering loans in the future, and later this year, we plan to launch ETFs. We’re also looking into adding more asset classes for our investors.
Panel highlights
Our COO and co-founder, Martins Valters, spoke on the panel Outlook for Platforms: Risks & Defaults, How To Avoid Them? Panelists agreed that investments come with some risk. Valters spoke about the risks at Mintos and how we mitigate risk when it comes to investing. He said we only work with lending companies that have good track records. We stick with the basics and look at performance data to see if the loans will be profitable for our investors.
Our CEO and co-founder, Martins Sulte, spoke on the panel One-Click-Solutions vs. Classical P2P investing. Panelists agreed that once-click solutions are more accessible than classical investing. Sulte added that the choice of one-click vs. classical investing depends on how much time you want to spend, how much knowledge you have, and your portfolio size. Mintos offers both experiences: one-click, in-between, or manual where you can spend time choosing yourself.
At Mintos, we’re always looking for opportunities to learn, share, and engage with our investors and others in the industry. We’re thrilled to have been part of this conference and look forward to more opportunities to connect with the fintech community!
A special thanks to all our investors we met at Finfellas, it was a pleasure to hear your Mintos experience.
