George Riley Super League Trophy

Warrington Wolves head to their clash with Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday enthused by a confident home win over St Helens that has sparked their play-off push at just the right time and kept them in touch with second-placed Hull KR (kick-off 18:00 BST, live on Sky Sports+).

The Giants fought off a stubborn London Broncos outfit to get up and running under new permanent boss Luke Robinson, but could they cause the Wolves a few problems in West Yorkshire? Here are my Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves predictions.

Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves Tips

  • Handicap 3-way: Warrington -14 @ 1/1
  • George Williams anytime tryscorer @ 5/4

Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves Odds

Huddersfield are 9/2 with Betfred to record the victory as Robinson continues to stamp his impression on the Giants squad after Ian Watson’s sacking earlier in the season. But Sam Burgess’ men are massive favourites at 2/13, with the draw in 80 minutes available at 22/1.

The price for Warrington’s win implies an 86.7% chance of them taking away the two points.

Team News

The Giants are without England prop Chris Hill, who has announced he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.  The former Warrington captain is injured so misses the clash against his former club, while fellow forward Harry Rushton is also out.

In their place Robinson brings in a couple of youngsters in Darius Carter and Jack Billington. Several key men remain sidelined, including Jake Connor, Adam Swift, Adam Milner and Ash Golding.

Rugby League Odds

Warrington also make two changes, with full-back Matt Dufty included in a squad for the first time since Magic Weekend after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

Prop James Harrison is back in contention too after his lower leg issue that has kept him out for the last fortnight.

Enforcer Paul Vaughan is still out as he serves the second game of his three-match ban, while back-row forward Lachlan Fitzgibbon serves a one-match ban.

Handicap 3-way: Warrington Wolves -14 @ 1/1

Huddersfield made hard work of beating London last week and left us short on our handicap selection. This week I just feel that Warrington have to keep performing if they are to realise their early-season promise and make a real run in the play-offs.

That has to start with a statement win in West Yorkshire against a Huddersfield side with some key names missing. And having watched the Giants get torn apart by Salford Red Devils a couple of weeks ago, I fancy the Wolves could inflict a few wounds of their own in this one.

The win over Saints will have settled a few Warrington jitters and this should be a fixture in which they cut loose. Huddersfield are no mugs and this could be a potential banana skin but Warrington simply have to keep turning up if they are to be considered as title challengers.

When these sides met in July it was 48-0 to the Wire, and while I don’t think it will be anything like that, I fancy the visitors to win and cover the handicap.

George Williams anytime tryscorer @ 5/4

After a wobble in form around the international break, this is the part of the season when England’s captain George Williams should step up and take control of this Wolves team.

He remains their talisman and will be integral to their success or otherwise over the next month or so. Expect Williams to be in the thick of the action this weekend, whether that be setting up tries or scoring them himself.
