Part of Howard Park’s Distinguished Sites range. When you’re onto a good thing, stick to it. Winemaking remains the same as previous vintages with parcels fermented in open vats and closed stainless steel before 18 months maturation in French oak (~25% new) barriques, hogheads and puncheons. Note, bottle image is of 2018.
Howard Park, Leston, Shiraz, Margaret River, 2020
Deep garnet. Fragrant plum and raspberry, with soft oak sweetness, pickled ginger, woody spice, licorice, gun flint, cola and white pepper tones. Neatly crafted with drying, ropey tannin and layers of red fruit wrapped in drinking chocolate. It has a little weight and heft but remains full, yet balanced.
