How to Fix a Wand Vibrator?

1. Read the Manual

I probably sound like Captain Obvious, but before trying anything you must carefully read the user and safety manual (like in the image below). Why? Because the manual may describe the particular issue and how to solve it. We swear you can avoid spending a single penny by just reading the manual!

Typically, you find chapters on how to operate it, how to charge it, and how to troubleshoot any potential problems. Pay close attention to sections describing adequate power for charging or connection-related instructions that affect the overall component.

It’s also important to know that different wand vibrators may have different voltage requirements. Make sure that the power you are using is compatible with your device, and that the electrical potential is set to the correct level.

2. Replacing the Cord of the Wand Vibrator

Warning: Replacing the cord should only be performed by a licensed electrician as it may be dangerous! You do it at your own risk!

One culprit with older wands like the Magic Wand Original may be its charging cord. If so, replacing the cord of your wand vibrator can be a solution to fixing your device.

After unplugging the device, take the cover off your Hitachi vibrator. The Hitachi Magic Wand (image below) uses a triangle screw, so use the proper tools to unscrew it. Once you open it, you can inspect its strain relief and power cable. You must also buy a cable with a molded strain relief as the original one might have worn out with age.

When you have your Hitachi Magic Wand opened up, it’s a good idea to use a multimeter to check that the diodes and the switch are working properly. An electrical spark may have caused some electrical components to stop working.

3. Charging Issues

You must first check what charging port your device has. Newer models have a USB charging port, while older ones have a wall adapter. Once you find the charging port type, follow these steps:

1. Connect the cable to the vibrator, just like in the image below, and plug the USB end of the charging cable into a power supply. If your vibrator came with a wall adapter, plug the adapter into a power supply and then connect a cable to the adapter.
2. Wait for the vibrator to fully charge. The charging time varies depending on the model, so refer to the manual for the estimated charging time.
3. Remember that you should not use your vibrator while charging. This can hurt the battery and shorten the life of your toy. Additionally, avoid overcharging your vibrator as this can also deteriorate the battery.

4. Check The Battery

This is only applicable if you own a battery-operated wand vibrator. Here are a few steps you can take to check the battery:

• Change the batteries: If your vibrator has removable batteries, buy new ones and see if the device starts working again.
• Check battery placement: Ensure that the batteries are aligned correctly and facing the right direction, as indicated by the + and – symbols on the battery compartment.
• Charge the battery: If your vibrator has a rechargeable battery, like the Magic Wand Rechargeable in the image below, plug it into a power source and charge it fully.

5. Motor Issues

This should go without saying, but, your device needs some rest once in a while just like you! If you’ve been doing longer solo sessions lately, the overuse could have burned both the circuits and the motor. Yikes! You can follow these tips to check if you’ve overused for wand vibrator:

1. First, unplug the cord. Then carefully open the vibrator and inspect the circuitry. Look for any visible deterioration, such as burnt wires, loose connections, or broken parts. If you see any issues, it might be easier to get another wand.
2. Use a Q-tip to clean the surrounding area as this can help remove any debris that prevents it from working properly.
3. Inspect for loose wiring or obvious indications of damage. Consult a professional for repair to avoid worsening the situation.

6. Weaker Vibration

If your wand vibrator is producing weaker vibrations or slower vibrating speed than usual, there could be a few reasons why. First and foremost, your batteries could be running low. We recommend replacing them with fresh ones or recharge them if your vibrator is rechargeable.

The spring that runs from the “head” to the motor could also be broken or separated away from where it’s originally attached.

7. Flaky Buttons

First things first, you need to confirm that it’s just the buttons (zoomed in the image below) that lose touch and not the whole circuit board going bad. If the circuit inside is the problem, it may be best to buy a new wand. However, if it’s just the buttons, you can try fixing it yourself.

To change the buttons, you will need to know their dimensions. When you know the sizes of the buttons, you can find replacement buttons online or at an electronics store.

The replacement buttons are surface mounted, so they are very easy to remove with a soldering iron. New buttons will need a little dab of solder to attach them to the circuit board. If you don’t have a soldering iron and solder wire, you need to get those before attempting this repair. Please remember to unplug the device before starting the work!

How To Clean Wand Vibrators?

1. First, make sure the device is unplugged and the batteries are removed if it is battery-operated.
2. Use a mild soap and warm water to clean the surface. Avoid getting water inside any openings or ports.
3. For a deeper clean, use a cleaner specifically designed for wand vibrators. Follow the instructions on the cleaner and be sure to rinse it thoroughly with water afterward.
4. If comes with wand attachments or accessories, clean them separately according to their specific cleaning instructions.

How To Store Wand Vibrators?
