What is CoolSculpting® Elite?

CoolSculpting® is a noninvasive body contouring treatment that works by lowering the temperature of fat cells until they freeze, damaging many of them irreversibly. At Krauss Dermatology, we offer CoolSculpting® Elite, which utilizes a wider range of comfortable applicators and treats more areas simultaneously than older systems. 

What Does CoolSculpting® Feel Like?

Your provider will choose the best applicator for the areas being treated and then apply it to your fat bulge. Your skin may feel cold for a short time but quickly becomes numb. You can sit back and relax during your session, which usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Fat cells do not feel anything, so you will not be in pain during the procedure. CoolSculpting® Elite allows us to treat more than one area during your session.

How Long Does CoolSculpting® Elite Last?

The adult body makes fewer and fewer new fat cells as it ages. If you gain weight, it means your existing fat cells have expanded in size to hold more rather than new fat cells being primarily responsible. The fat cells removed with CoolSculpting® Elite will not return so you can expect long-lasting results and a better proportioned body. 

The appearance of the treated area (as well as untreated areas) can still change if you gain or lose weight, so to maintain your results over time, we recommend a healthy lifestyle and staying close to your target weight. These factors will keep the treated area looking slim and sculpted. 

Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting®?

Because it leaves your skin unharmed, CoolSculpting® Elite has no downtime, and you can return to your regular activities without delay. The treated area may look red and feel sensitive or tingly for a short time, and you may notice numbness that can last weeks. Your body will remove the treated fat cells over the next three to four months.

Am I a Candidate for CoolSculpting® Elite?

CoolSculpting® Elite is safe to use on almost anyone’s skin regardless of skin type or tone. The best candidates for this treatment are close to their target body weight but want to address specific problem areas. Those with more body fat can still see results, but they may be less noticeable. People with certain medical conditions (such as cold sensitive disorders like Raynauds) may not be candidates for this treatment. Pregnant women may not be treated.
