Hotel Indigo – Everett Waterfront Getaway – Where to Eat & What To Do On This Staycation!
The Hotel Indigo on the Everett Waterfront is a fun getaway idea for a staycation year-round, but the holiday season can be particularly fun. We recently enjoyed a stay out here to celebrate the holiday season. I think it is a super value, as it sits on the marina, with access to great restaurants in walking distance, but you can easily find rooms under $200 for all of this.
We found rates starting at as low as $127/nt on Groupon here!
Tip: My family has been buying these deals off of Groupon for years, and it has always worked out great for us. I like to check them first as if they have dates available that work for your travel window, you will often find the best rates. Plus, in addition to the hotel stay, you can also find savings on things to do and even places to eat for your getaway. One other thing I love about using Groupon to save is that it is all on your phone. You do not have to print out extra paperwork, and can even find things to do on the go (like right from your hotel room)!
I have family members who live right here, which is why we decided to do a staycation here originally. I kept hearing about what a great spot it was, and had to check it out for myself. I am so glad that we did as we really enjoyed it. In case you all have not heard about this gem, I wanted to share it here. It is a great fit if you like a clean + affordable boutique-style stay, with easy access to restaurants, and offers a walkable location with great views.
Hotel Indigo Seattle Everett Waterfront
This Hotel Indigo is considered the Seattle Everett location for this hotel, but it is located waterfront down on the Everett Marina. It is 4 stories high, with a restaurant and bar, as well as amenities like a pool and a workout room. The real draw though is that it sits on the Marina (waterfront) and there is plenty to explore in walking distance from the hotel. You can park and just relax for your time here (plus parking is free here!).
We had a partial water view and were on the 4th floor, and this was our view. If you book a full water view you will be facing the marina directly (there is still a walkway in between the hotel and the marina), but for the price, it is a nice view.
The rooms are spacious and come with some storage space a small fridge, etc.. I found the double queen room to be a great value for how open and comfortable it was. We visited during a busier weekend and never had any issues with getting an elevator, crowding in the lobbies, etc. A couple more perks I loved about this hotel:
- Parking is free.
- Internet is free.
- Checkout is Noon – letting you sleep in and not have to rush out.
- They provide complimentary full-sized shower products (so you can leave that bulky shampoo and conditioner at home) making packing easier.
Everything about this getaway felt easy for me, which I enjoyed during a busy season of the year.
They have a saline pool that is open until 10 pm. We enjoyed a night swim during our visit and had the pool to ourselves! The workout room is right next door to the pool area and is open 24 hours a day.
The Lobby is nicely decorated, with a fireplace to relax at. Other amenities in the lobby area are a small store to get snacks and drinks and many things you might have forgotten to pack, as well as a restaurant and bar area down the hall (we mention more about that below in the where to eat section).
We visited in December, and there were multiple Christmas trees up, making it feel festive. I found the hotel to be very clean during our visit, and customer service was wonderful for us too.
Everett Waterfront Restaurants::
One of the things that is so fun about this getaway, is that there are plenty of great Everett waterfront restaurants, all within walking distance from the hotel! In all honesty, I do think this is one of the main draws to the area. It is great to have access to so many fun restaurants right in walking distance, and all right on the waterfront. You often have to pay a lot more for views like this, and you will find options that range from bakery and pizza prices to nicer restaurants, so it can work for many different budgets.
Tip: If you want to save on dining costs, be sure to check out the Groupon dining options in Everett before you head out to see what options might be available. You could even plan to hit one of these on your way in, or way some too.
Here are our favorites!
Jetty Bar & Grille
Let’s start with the Jetty Bar & Grille because it is located right in the Hotel Indigo. They offer both a bar and a restaurant (separate areas, but right next to each other). and there were a few things I loved about this spot. First, they had great food and drink. That is Grandma enjoying her breakfast on our trip 🙂 – but honestly, the food was very good here. If you can see in the background, it is a wall of windows with beautiful views of the marina and waterfront, or on warmer days they offer an outdoor seating area with a fire pit and all. That leads to the other thing I love about this spot, you get marina views in a spacious setting, for standard restaurant prices. We never had trouble getting a table, and we visited on a very busy weekend. They also offer a Happy Hour each day from 4 pm to 7 pm to help save some money.
We enjoyed their weekend breakfast/brunch and everyone enjoyed their meal. On the weekends brunch runs until 3 pm, so no reason to jump out of bed early. We all ended up eating down here (a party of 4 that morning) and everyone loved the food. It was fresh, presented well, and had a great variety of options.
Fisherman Jacks
Fisherman Jacks is a dinner favorite for our family. They offer Dim Sum, Small Plates, and more. This is the spot where you go and order a handful of different things and share. The portions are not huge, so if you can go during a Happy Hour, I definitely recommend that. These guys have two Happy Hours each day, offering great savings opportunities. Happy Hours are from 2 pm to 5 pm and 9 pm to close daily. You can find their Happy Hour Menu here.
We all really enjoyed this restaurant, and I will say it is one of the most popular on the waterfront so reservations are recommended.
The Muse Whiskey & Coffee Bar
This spot is open to all ages in the morning as a coffee bar, and then it changes over to a speak-easy-style whisky bar in the evenings. It was my personal favorite stop for our trip. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area (it was erected in 1923). They offer upper-scale drinks and small bites (that are delicious). This is a picture of one of their charcuterie boards. We also had the lamb chops and crab bruschetta bites on recent visits, and they were all delicious.
It is a little separated from some of the other spots, sits out closer to another area of the waterfront, and offers different styles of seating spaces as there are a number of different rooms to sit in. I felt like I had been transported over to a New York Speak Easy for an espresso martining during our visit!
Scuttlebutt Brewery
We enjoyed a big dinner here with a large party, and they easily accommodated us (we did call ahead of time for a reservation). The thing that is nice about this spot, is that they offer lots of options for different tastes. During our visit, we ordered everything from fish and chips to chicken sandwiches and even prime rib. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and it is a nice casual environment that works well for all, but families too. They also have a full tap of options and much more!
A few more fun options within walking distance (some a little further than others, but we have walked to them all):
- Lombardi’s Italian
- South Fork Bakery
- Anthony’s Home Port
- Anthony’s Woodfired Grille
- Sound & Summit Brewery and Pizzeria (where we go for pizza usually)
Things To Do On The Everett Waterfront::
The hotel sits behind this area of the waterfront and offers 3.5 miles of paved walking/biking trails you can access here too. We saw many people out walking during our visit. Sunsets are beautiful, and it just has a relaxing feeling in this area.
Holiday Fun
We planned our trip around a weekend holiday festival they offer each year, and it included a parade of boats decorated in Christmas lights, but it looked like some of the boats moored there may stay decorated all season long. Even if you visit outside of that weekend festival, there is lots of festivity in the area. The Tulalip is around 15 minutes away, and you will find lots of beautiful Christmas lights, an outdoor ice skating rink, and outlet mall there for shopping if you want to take a little excursion out.
There are also reindeer on site, and we saw lots of kids hanging out around their carousel. They will be around for select times through 12/20 this year. You can find their full schedule here.
Their Winter lighting displays, including this “Frozen Fountain” will stay up until February 17th this year too. Find their full events schedule here to plan a visit around other festivals throughout the year as well.
More to Do Near the Waterfront
Tip: Local area activities are my favorite things to look for deals on. We love to always check out Groupon for what deals might be available for the locations we are visiting. Be sure to check Groupon for money-saving ideas on local attractions in Everett here before you head out!
Here are some more ideas of things for families to do in the area, if you want to explore beyond the Marina.
- Game on NW & High Trek Adventures are owned by the same group and are tons of fun – especially for kids to teenagers.
- They often offer deals on Groupon, so be sure to check here first for money-saving options!
These are two different facilities but both are full of adventure and fun, and both are in Everett. Game On NW is an indoor facility that offers Axe Throwing, Laser Tag, VR, Escape Rooms, and more. You will want to visit before 7 pm if you have kids under 18 with you, as it does transition to 18+ after that. It is definitely worth a visit if you like those kinds of activities like my kids (teens now) do.
High Trek is an outdoor facility with a ropes course, zip lines, putt-putt, and more. We share a full review of High Trek Adventures and Zip Lines here if you want to learn more about it.
Funko Pop Store –
If there are any Funk Pop fans in your group, the Funko Pops Everett headquarters store is going to place you will likely want to plan a visit to. This spot offers the best bet to find the largest selection, as it is over 17,000 sq ft in size, and is the flagship store for the Washington area. You can easily spend an hour to two here if you want to. There is plenty to explore.
If you want to buy Funko Pops online, Groupon has some super prices on them here!
FeelArtistic –
If you want to do something on the creative side, FeelArtisitic is an art studio that offers pottery, fusion, and stained glass projects and classes. It is a great way to unwind for an afternoon while being creative. Grab an offer off of Groupon for this one, and enjoy an afternoon of creating.
If you plan to visit during the summer months, here are more fun ideas in the area.
Jetty Island –
Jetty Island is a 2-mile long man-made island, that offers long stretches of sandy beaches, and although it is accessible year-round with your own watercraft, they offer a boat taxi during the summer months (generally from early July into September), during the Jetty Days to get there. It can be a popular destination in the summer, and the perfect way to enjoy a northwest beach day. The ferry leaves from the Port of Everett, so a stay here puts you in the right spot to enjoy a trip to Jetty Island.
Kayak & SUP Rentals
You can also rent Kayaks and SUPs right at the Port of Everett. This is another way you can get over to Jetty Island or just enjoy that location, or just use them on the water.
There are many things to do in this area, and you can make this trip an overnight one, or a full weekend getaway. I can’t wait to go back and explore more this summer too!
