Flat racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off is the Curragh before they go to Bath, Doncaster and Musselburgh.

Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Jamie Osborne who won at Wolverhampton last month and is a huge player if able to translate his all-weather form to turf at Doncaster.

Horse Racing Tips – Sunday, September 15

  • 14:40 Doncaster – Thunder Blue @ 12/1
  • 15:15 Doncaster – Fair Angellica @ 9/4
  • 15:40 Bath – Taritino @ 12/1

14:40 Doncaster – Thunder Blue @ 12/1

A competitive renewal of the 7f handicap as Harry Charlton’s Ten Pounds is bidding to bring up the four-timer but he has a 9lb rise to contend with back on grass and that might stop him in his tracks.

At a nice each-way price, Jamie Osborne’s THUNDER BLUE could be worthy of a wager. The son of Blue Point left Dominic Ffrench Davis and had his first start for this yard in June when a respectable ninth of 28 in a 5f Royal Ascot handicap, beaten three lengths.

He got off the mark for this yard in a 6f Racing League handicap at Wolverhampton last month before staying on late to finish third in the 6f Shergar Cup sprint handicap, while he again stayed on strongly for pressure when second at Newcastle when last seen.

Thunder Blue wouldn’t want too much rain it would seem but there should be plenty of pace on here and he will be rattling home. Hopefully he gets there in time.

15:15 Doncaster – Fair Angellica @ 9/4

Trainer Richard Hughes has a nice filly on his hands as FAIR ANGELLICA bids to back up her impressive Listed Deauville victory last time, which was a career-best performance by her.

She is still lightly raced and really looked quite smart in the hands of Ryan Moore last time. This is tougher but she has a progressive profile and despite this being a Group 3, there aren’t too many in here she should be too concerned about.

Fair Angellica handles any ground and it has been a very good year for Hughes to date as he nears 50 winners for the season.

15:40 Bath – Taritino @ 12/1

There’s some great action over at the Curragh but it’s winners we want and we hope TARITINO can bounce back to form for trainer Joe Tickle in the 1m6f summer stayers’ series final handicap.

The son of Buratino was very strong in the betting when making all over course and distance in June and he rounded off an impressive hat-trick of wins at Salisbury off a mark of 73 nine days later.

Tartino wasn’t at his best off higher marks at Sandown and Ffos Las since, but interestingly he was sent off favourite for the amateur handicap he ran in last time so better must have been expected.

The return to Bath should suit and if he gets a soft lead here he will be hard to peg back.
